Hi everybody!
Second year grower - tried to use BuildaSoil organic for several autoflowers growing outside here in northern New Mexico (very hot sun, low humidity.
I’ve got a Grand Daddy Purple auto about 8 weeks old, just started flowering. I noticed that some of the older fan leaves were yellowing around the edges, so I started giving some cal-mag with every watering, along with a light dose of Gonzo Bloom.
Growing in a 12 inch clay pot, always used reverse osmosis water, with once a week BuildaSoil top dressing. TBH, this is sort of a runt, and I would not be heart broken if I don’t get good buds from her.
I would ditch this and get a complete product. Jacks 321, Fox Farm, General Hydroponics, and Advanced Nutrients all provide complete solutions. Your plant needs plenty of NPK and micronutrients (iron, boron, manganese,…) The Gonzo product isn’t getting it done.
Thanks MWG - I will change nutes.
Not monitoring PPD and runoff - trying to do an organic grow, but lately seeing some problems with my girls in the 12 inch pots. My 10gal fabric pot girl is going way strong.
Sun is def NOT a problem here in Santa Fe - very strong sun, many sunny days.
Iron deficiency is extremely rare in cannabis, almost unheard of. Too much phosphorus can lock iron out or an extremely high ph.
While it does look like an iron deficiency it is also to yellow/green, iron deficiency is almost a pale white.
The local grow shop guys looked at my pics and agree with you all.
So they suggested an organic bloom nute and the companion micro-nute blend.
I’ll let you know how it works…
With organic growing you want large pots and healthy soil. You never want the soil to become completely dry and kill off the microbiology or to wet. I have used build a soils craft blend and will say it’s a solid product.
Organics are difficult and takes some time figuring out what works for you. Iv been doing organic only for 2 years now.
Yep, this summar was an exploration and experiment with pots and pot sizes. For the hot New Mexico sun, a fabric pot with partial plastic liner worked best, but overall pot size was crucial - my 10 gal pots were definitely the “winners” in producing healthy, happy girls. This one has just started flowering.
Finally got a combo PH/EC/PPM meter today.
My Reverse Osmosis Water: 5.6pH 3 ppm 8 EC
I have 6 plants in soil currently. The girls that look great, measure great.
The GDP girl in the first post, however is way out of spec.
pH: 5.6 ppm 3000 eC 5750
So should I just flush her with a lot of water, then just plain water for a week or so?
After flush, today my sick girl is at: pH: 5.85 ppm 1350
And I swear that she looks happier. I will give her water only until her ppm drops some more.
Thanks Folks!
Id water one more good time with a phd water of 7.2. You want to target 6.5 , so if youre at 5.8 and shooting for 6.5 then add .7 to 6.5 and you get 7.2. If youre in flower 6.5 to 6.8 is your target ph in soil.
