Stonedrus, the art of little trees 🌳

@MrPeat, I think you would enjoy the benefits of growing that way. If I remember correctly, you use the 12/12 and height of your lights to control your temps. Have you opened up all the vents, upped the air flow and run it at a 24 hour cycle to max out environment and see what it runs at for temp and RH… If so, is it still running hot at that point? The whole grow room does need to maintain the same ideal conditions, only the 18 inches that contain the flowering heads, the Goldilocks zone.

@Stonedrus Yes, I run a 12/12 schedule. The Central AC on this side blows. It was built by low wage labor from Mexico as a lot of these homes in the area. I don’t even think they used insulation and they used that wood paneling on the walls and you can push it in. Which isn’t supposed to happen and that means not much drywall used on the add on. Both Meanwell drivers on the outside of the tent.

The AC is very restricted on this side and all single pane windows. I came up with something that works. I have had temps past 110 degrees in my grow room during the summer. Thus the window ac blowing straight into the tent with door wide open.

When I close it the temps will rocket past 115 degrees. Yes, all vents are open with one fan sucking the hot air at the top.

Another fan on the HLG aluminum panel blowing across both to a open vent. Then a big box fan for main circulation. Its tough controlling the heat due to South Texas heat and humidity. Just part of growing in a old home not built to code.

I also tried duct attached to the only vent in the ceiling straight into the tent with door closed and it didn’t help. I will probably not do a Summer grow as it can reach past 130 degres outside and humid as all hell.

If you want to take this discussion to my Toilet Bowl thread its fine so we don’t derail your grow journal. :+1:

Wow! Your having to do door to door delivery for your school district? Where are you?
My school sent an email that if you want to get a child’s lunch you have to bring them to one of the district’s pick up locations.

Kalamazoo Michigan and I believe we are dropping for several families at a time as it’s the regular bus routes. Gloves at all times and a mask if we want

Nice sounds like your school district is more on the ball than mine is.

Yes we are being paid as we would but only working on Wednesday till further notice

My son’s school is supposed to have classwork online but so far we’ve only seen a couple of math worksheets. His friend goes to the alternative school and they are " we don’t know if everyone can get online so we won’t do anything " what a cluster F. I’m glad you will not be short your paycheck!

I have added in the 3rd net and am adjusting the lights and canopy as necessary. The 3 layers of net are the easiest way for me to spread the plants out and should provide enough structure to support flowering.

I have been removing any fan leaves with a stem longer than 1 inch, or that have yellowed some. I am also removing any small branches that will steal nutrients and not produce at least a 3 gram dried bud.

Badass dude. I can’t wait to see the yield on that grow

I’ve been working on different types of defoliation for years and I always feel guilty taking leaves off a healthy plant. But for this grow, I’m going to follow @imSICKkid recommendations, and remove the ones with visible stems, or at least as many as I can and still feel safe. This will hopefully make it easier to determine which leaf lives and which one dies.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

DEATH TO ALL OF THEM!!! haha it seems a little crazy I know…but in a week they are back to looking normal.

The main reason for such a heavy defol is getting that lower canopy bud sites out of the ā€œshade avoidance responseā€ thus giving you more premium flower further down the colas.

Still picking leaves, barely starting to make a dent in the canopy.
