My first grow with GDP went very well.
For both grows I put nutrients in the soil before I planted the seed. The seed is in plain Pro Mix. I have about 10 gallon jugs of distilled water. Out of the jug it is 8.4ph. I get it to 6.2. Is using distilled water OK? I planted 3 days ago and no plant observed yet.

Something easier for you for ph’ing your water, I use well water that’s around 8, so I use a 1/4 tsp of citric acid to lower it to around 6.5. You can get it at any grocery store in the canning section for cheap.

Unless the distilled water ppm is 100 or more getting an accurate ph is not likely

I installed a ro setup for growing. If adding nutes i worry about ph last. If watering only with distilled or ro i just add the water without regard to ph. Something i have been considering is 2 things
- Drinking ro or distilled water is dangerous as this water can leach calcium among other things from our bodies
- If this is the case can ro or distilled water leach nutrients from the plants
My first seed did not come out of the soil for 4 days. Being impatient I germinated 2 more. Wouldn’t you know it, the first one popped the next day. It still had it’s helmet on and it was stuck pretty good. I could not get it off. Today is day 3 and it is 2 inches tall and still has the helmet on it. I was able to remove the helmet a few minutes ago but there are no leaves present, just a lump. I am having a hard time trying to get a picture on here. I’ll post that later
For some reason I can’t get the pictures to transfer over. The first seed I was able to remove the helmet finally but the end of the plant is just a lump. It looks like the leaves are folded over the top of the stem. I’ll wait a couple of days to see what happens, then make a decision.
Number two seed is going great. I had to also remove the helmet from the plant but the leaves have spread out and look great. More later.
