I have a Northern Lights in veg stage (5th week from seed) which I topped 10 days ago and have been training the nodes to the side. I got a little aggressive with the two nodes off the main stem today and split the stem at the top (see pics).
From what I’ve found in the ilgm forum, it sounds like I can just tape the split part of the stem together and it will repair itself. Any other pointers or experience repairing a split like this?
Looks good. Next time, try something non-adhesive. Plumbing Teflon works well. I recently started using flex bandage if such an incident occurs. The kind they put on your arm after blood draw or donation. It sticks to itself and stretches so if the plant starts thickening up, the injured area can too.
Add/edit… This is from an Apple Fritter I have going right now…
I’m not sure but I have always heard that you should put a little honey on a split or break before you repair it as an antibacterial and antifungal. Supposed to really help. I’ve had really good luck with it after reading about it. Only had 2 splits or breaks to try it on though.
I use double sided velcro that sticks to itself for repairs. Easy on, easy off, no damage.
Same here with Teflon and thanks for the idea with the flex
