So many new white hairs....and nanners

Hey all…just a quick question… i was growing outdoors this summer and my autos started getting botrytis from the crap humid and wet summer we had in NY. My photos went in to flower prob about 8 weeks ago. I brought them in and put them in my closet (never again) and have been dealing with mites and such, (which didnt really seem to stress, treated a few times with miticide but still am dealing with them) but noticed nanners today…and a full formed seed. They should be finishing up. All truchomes are milky and erect, they look great. But they are all putting out new white hairs, tons, and now im wondering if i should just flush and pull. Idk how to gauge the grow timewise other than the trichomes. The buds are actually the densest and largest ive ever grown despite having to prune off here and there to control bud rot from weeks ago. Thats under control. Ive been using tape to remove the webs and mites that i can see, even tho my photo clones leaves are affected, the bugs arent all that horribly apparent. But the pistils are confusing me/throwing me off bc the original hairs are red/brown and ready. Ive been at it for 4 years now and produced probably over 75 plants in total. I consider myself skilled enough, and i have great lights and texhniques are pretty much on point. I experiment a lot and learn immensely from my mistakes and successes. I have about 8 seedlings and 4 clones ready to go in the grow area but bc of the bugs, i dont want to mingle the newbies in. I really dont know how much longer they need, but like i said, by trichomes…they look ready to flush. No amber, but 100% milky and aromatic. Opinions?

Looks like they are re-vegging and starting to foxtail. My best guess is that when you pulled them in, your DLI was thrown out of whack. The plants think they have more time now and thus began to develop more pistils. If you’re happy with the color of the trichomes, I’d go ahead and harvest.

So theyve been indoor for 8 weeks. I actually moved the lights down last week bc they were seemingly far, could the lights be too close? The foxtailing just started, actually my lighta went out for 5 hours a few days ago, so they got 17hrs darkness for one day. Now that yiu say that, the hairs have gotten more intense since then. Shit. I watered and nuted today. They are in amall containers and its mostly perlite and coco media, i have to water every day. Should i flush? Raise the lights to 24" and run a few flushes? Could the extra dark caused that? Or lights too far? Too close? I axtually am happy w trichomes. It threw me off bc its new pistil formation, but if it hadnt, i woulsve expected to be harvesting now. Even though i started may 28, i had timed it considering it was meant to be outdoors. Id say they have been in flower since around the 2nd week of august. So theyre week 9 or 10…theyre probably done. Trichomes are gonna start ambering any day. Shit, man. I really didnt consider reveg. THANK YOU!!!

so…what would you do?

I lowered the lights bc i thought since the leaves have no signs of stress and i thought id try to speed things up by getting as close as i could and then raising them until they were at max…but idk my vli. That is the only tool i havent delved into yet…and i want to. I meant to. I knda forgot bc they were outside crop. I want to get a meter. I will now…suggestions?

Heres what i got going…plantes Im running hlg 600rspecs in a 8x10 room. 3 fans and a dect vent and intake. Seeds sprouted 6/2… My media is 50/50 and a 20% hybrid soil i make. Nutes are GH maxi grow and bloom with flower power. Silica and cag mag all grow and pH always yellow, like healthy pee…lol(i like reagent drops, hydro taught me so much about pH) I measure using EC, and ive been averaging 2.0. They took a beating in veg and i also was experimenting with techniques to lollipop them, as im gonna try directing my colas and focusing on healthy, well placed and dense terminal buds. I also experimented with my very first cloning from my last hydro grow and they arent putting new hairs, though.

Looks like new foxtails starting in. I just had this problem with my plant as well that was about 10 weeks in flower. Which would 100% confirm new white hairs. I just chopped mine down. The only difference I see is yours is a mild foxtailing. If you’re at 100% milky and you’re ready to cut it down I personally wouldn’t be too worried about it.

The area that looks foxtalled at the very top is the only area with new white hair. If you’re waiting on Amber just continue waiting on the Amber and checking it. If you’re in your comfort zone to chopping I wouldn’t let them white hairs bother me they’ll come off and trim.

Thanks! Def milky. Really nice, actually. I expected to see clear and small, but i checked and they are milky and some even verrrrry light beige.

Sounds like when I like to chop it

you could check DLI by your phone, they’re app name PHOTONE i believe it free.

Heats from getting too close may stimulate the foxtailing more.

I moved my lights back up to 22". I didnt realize that i was 12-14", my canopy is so uneven. When i do indoor, i always try to even the canopy and these girls were outdoor so it didnt matter…inside, i felt like the bottom buds werent getting enough so i lowered. But the biggest colas were too close, im sure my vli was too high. I will start flushing today…

I use that app sometimes but i feel like its not that accurate, i havent done the white paper balance trick, tho. I almost ordered a meter last night but they are priced so extremely…from 39$ to 600$. Im axtually more interested in the cannitrol so ive been putting off gadget purchase to consider that 1600$ plunge for prime dry/cure. (Not gonna do it this crop bc i dealt with the spider mites and i have them controlled, not eradicated. I dont want to contaminate it first run. Lol)

In early to mid-flower I put my lights at 14 in from the top canopy and set my lights at 100% it’s the best for the buds.

I am not 100% sold that foxtailing is totally from too much light. I believe it’s genetics as well. I’ve had way too many foxtailings occur after moving my light back up to 24 in.

I do recommend that you keep an eye on your Amber trichomes on a daily basis as you’re already at 100% milky the Amber will start and spread like wildfire before you know it sending your weed to couch lock. That’s what you’re looking for good. If not I’ll be chopping at ASAP

Good luck

Just to address a different point - don’t bother flushing. I’d take it now, but given the mite infestation make sure to do a really good bud wash.

Aweeesome, @Fiz . I flushed last night and this morning. By the time i got home tonight i had several new nanners. Im super vigilant about my cannabis. Its kinda my thing the past 4 years. Every grow teaches me so much. And i love to learn and experiment. I wouldve lost these to botrytis…the weakened immune systems let them become managably colonized with mites and those stupid aphids/white bug on leaf stems. Thats a long story. But im happy with trichomes and i guess the answer is to not bother flushing at this point and chop tmo. They smell great and feel dense AF. i wonder what happened. Had to have been the lights being moved too close. Increasing hours in dark would cause it to finish earlier, not stress it to the point of revegging, no? I like to learn from my plants…its def stressed by something… i need to rexognize for future growing!

Hey…if i tag you its bc weve chatted and maybe you would like to help…advice? Read the thread if u want. tag other ppl who know ppl who want to help. I have other questions and concerns, too. Itd be cool to start a thread… @Low @Fatz1973 @anon34311147 @Highwayman420 @CMichGrower @Lostgirl

I think any kind of stress makes plants suseptible to bugs and other nasties. Light stress for sure. But spider mites are a major pita to control.

I don’t bother flushing.

No i know the bugs arent related. They have been a pita but im good there. Its the light stress.

So how should i begin harvest? They are way thicker and bigger than ive ever grown. Suggestions?

I’m very new to growing. I just harvested my first and am starting my 2nd grow right now. I have 4 little seedlings.
How can i help?
I would chop the buds off by the bottom of their branches and hang dry them in a controlled environment of 60 degrees and 60% RH. Let them hang for 2 to 3 weeks and check them by cracking a stem or i use a moisture meter also. It should read 10-12% moisture when they’re ready for cure. I like to dry trim myself before i start the cure.
