Not a good way to start the day I get up and start adjusting LST on the girls and “SNAP” goes the very top of the main stem.
I will say this I’m always good at listening to tips and one of them tips that I actually listen to was always keep a tourniquet within arm’s reach of your grow. When I snap this had I let go of it it would have felt completely off the fact that I listened to others and had a kit within arm’s reach I was able to make a makeshift tourniquet and hopefully save her she snapped about three quarters completely off hanging by just a little bit of stem. I know I’ll never make surge in general but does this look okay what’s her recovery prognosis?
Tip of the day… Always keep a pencil or a stick and a roll of masking tape with an arms reach of your plant at all times. It may be the deciding factor if she lives or dies.
Is this a photoperiod or autoflower plant? You’re preparedness and quick reaction are exactly what she needed. She may surprise you and heal extremely well. These plants are quite resilient
@Underthestairs
She’s approximately 32 days old she’s an Autoflower very well taken care of. The snap sound sent an instant pain to my stomach I said oh shit, reached for the tape and pencil with one hand snapped a pencil off with my teeth stuck it on there and put some tape on it. With no one else in the house there was no possible way to let her go without that breaking completely off so I agree I got lucky there
Autos have a reputation for being finicky and delicate, which is true in some ways, but they’re also tough plants. Post a picture of the full plant if you can.
Since autos have they’re own timeline this can reduce yields. You’ll know more in a day or two based on her response.
Very nice. She looks great otherwise. Worst case scenario the top doesn’t reattach and you’ll end up snipping the rest off and have a smaller harvest. I’ll stay optimistic with you
Oh no! That’s not a good start. At least you were prepared. Hopefully she pulls through for you. Good job on fixing her up. I will keep my fingers crosses for you.
This unfortunately happened to me kind of i topped early on so i had to nice big tops coming off the main stem and one snapped off…glad it has another big top lol mine i just cut all the way and am trying to clone it now. Good luck i think she may be fine these plants are very resilient.
Unbelievable, it’s been about 18 hours since I snapped this main stem basically in half. The plant has shown absolutely no stress whatsoever. Leaves are still aiming for the lights fully stretched out, no wilting. Definitely super genetics
This tip is the bomb. I bought my son 15 aprons with pockets since one of his part time jobs is as a host/waiter/bartender. The company only issues two and he doesn’t have time or money to hit a laundromat daily.
I think I will ask for one, load the pockets, and that way I am not running back inside the house constantly!
Bwhahahahaha… sorry. Been there done that ALOT… BUT! She will be fine. She will reward you for your quick thinking. I left a branch hanging on by a few strands on a plant one time and didnt touch her. Still produced twin colas at 4gs a piece…
I had a main branch break off .I did near excately as you.Reattached taped and she never missed a beat.these plants are resilient as all get out.
To plant a seed one must have faith it will grow.When an accident happens that faith more often than not carry’s us thru with stellar results AND it appears your faithful attentive efforts will be rewarded.
GREAT JOB.
Okay guys it looks as if we’re in 100% fully recovered no more intensive care unit for the girl. It’s been three days since the snap.!
No fading, no discoloration, no wilted leaves, and no sign of stress. Actually if I’m not mistaken it looks like she might be going in the pre-flower.
I’m totally afraid to open the tourniquet and see her healing I know eventually I’m going to have to. It’s only been 3 days how long should I keep the tourniquet on without touching it? Here’s a today update picture
I’d leave it. As long as it looks healthy where you can see. You could unwrap 1 side of the splint to make sure it doesn’t choke her if that take didn’t have any give to it
@Underthestairs
This is very good commercial masking tape there is no give to it whatsoever. Do you think she would choke if I left it on for an additional week to 10 days and then take it off?
