Smart Pots: Advantage/Disadvantage

I am wondering if one is using smart pots, when you transplant, is it more difficult and would like to know the advantages/ disadvantages. I’m wondering if anyone has experience using these pots?

The cloth ones?

@Hawkeye_diesel, I was actually looking at the smart pot brand, guess they are fabric, not sure

Like these?

@Hawkeye_diesel, yes exactly, read they are good because root rot doesn’t occur as easily do the good air and drainage

Yes I use them and haven’t had a problem. I love them

@Hawkeye_diesel, when you transplant, do you put existing pot in new pot? That may sound stupid but I have never done this. Or so you change pot sizes like you would in a plastic pot?

I use rapid rooters and peat plugs for myself. For myself, once the plug is showing roots then I place the soil in the pot then scoop away the amount I need to fit the plug in and then cover it up with soil, if that makes sense. Are you planting auto flowering plants or feminized plants?
Autos don’t like to be transplanted, it’s best to strategy them in they’re final home(container).

I use them and love them my plants love then too
No root binding and pleanty of oxygen for your roots they help with root rot issues as well since the fabric lets your soil breath :+1:
I transplant right from solo cup into a 5 gal soft pot
When I set up my 5 gal pot I put an empty solo cup in center and fill soil up around it then remove it slowly and place my plant right in hole
After cutting off the solo cup it’s been growing in
Hope this helps @Zombo
Cute pup by the way :+1::v::cowboy_hat_face:CB

@Hawkeye_diesel, northern lights fem, I’m just trying to figure out if I transplant once and go to larger pot. ie… Go from seedling to say 1 gallon then to 5 or 7 gallon final home for plant

Yes sounds like a plan. I would start in seedling, 1 gallon, then it’s up to you, you can do the 3 gallon or go straight to the 5 or 7 gallon for their final home

@Countryboyjvd1971, I was just asking @Hawkeye_diesel this. Where do you folks but them, they are expensive?

Amazon and search cloth pot and you’ll find any size you can think of

@Hawkeye_diesel , cool thx for all the responses, appreciate it!
