Do you pre wash your canna coco?

Nope never have to prewash Canna. Some coco bricks you should. Whenever I rehydrate it I dont just use plain water. I mix up a batch of Jack’s and let it soak in that.
It’s a good idea to add a little extra calcium also. Coco like to eat it up whenever you first start using it.

I have never used coco so just want to make sure I do this correctly
So when you say soak should I break up bricks in a big bin a then just soak the media as in not more water than media correct?
Also do I soak it a day?or2before I use the coco?
What type of calcium do you use?
Sorry for all the questions sickk
I’m going to buy coco today or tomorrow and get it ready for transplanting my seedlings this week

I just mean rehydrate the coco. I use around 3 gallons of mixture for a 40 liter brick of coco. It will soak it all up. You can rehydrate it the same day you use it.

if you dont use it all right away let it dry out before you close it up or store it. The moisture can cause mold if it sits closed up somewhere

Do I just add the extra calcium for rehydrating the coco bricks?or first week of using the coco?

Just whenever you first rehydrate the bricks. For me I use a little extra of my calcium nitrate.

What nutrients are you using?

Jacks 321 with silica
And I’ll be adding the tribus original and for veg

Oh ok. Well then you should rehydrate with this mixture

Per gallon
3.6g part a
3g part b
1.2g epsom salt
Ph to 6.0

This is only for rehydrating the coco. Whenever you feed them it will be with the normal 321 formula

Sounds good
Thank you for all the info
@imSICKkid and everyone else
I think I’m going to give coco a run and hope for the best lol
So pretty much coco gets watered everyday correct?
Or do I play it day by day?

I water everyday once they get out of their first week. But the amounts of water I give change as the plants get bigger.

I’m going to be in 3 gallon pots
How much run off am I looking for?

I dont pay attention to runoff in coco. Because every day your watering and resetting the media. I dont pay attention to ph or ppm’s coming out. I just feed them full strength Jack’s at 6.0ph and I havent had an issue ever since I switched to Jacks

As long as water is coming out the bottom then consider it good. No certain amount is needed to be honest

Hey Kid. With coco do you have to water slowly as you do with soil? I am careful to water slowly so it soaks without channeling. I assume coco would be much less likely to washout channels.

I dont water slowly but at the same time I’m not dumping it all at once. Coco isnt known for being hydrophobic like soil is whenever it dries out. I have an automatic irrigation system on the plants now so it’s pretty slow

Is the canna coco bag the same as canna coco brick? Or is it 2 different types of coco?
I ask because all I could find at my local stores is canna coco in the 50L bag

It’s the same thing. The bags are already rehydrated so it’s no different. If it’s at your local store then I would buy it depending on the price. On Amazon the bricks are only 20 a piece and its 40 liters.

How much is it at the store

$20 at the store
I was looking on Amazon and I found the bricks for about $25
