Should I do a light defoliation to expose bud sights?

I did some LST on this plant over the past couple weeks, yesterday I re adjusted clips and she bounce back up but I feel like I could take some fan leaves that are blocking bud sights? Or should I just tuck them down and worry about defoliation when I flip to flower?

Buds don’t use light. It is the plant’s leaves that conduct photosynthesis.

Trim as necessary to maintain good airflow within the plant’s canopy.

but should i remove the leaves blocking the sights so they can grow up to make an even canopy? or should i just tuck them down?

Good idea.

Not necessary. Flower calyx (bud) is far less efficient at photosynthesis as compared to leaves. Light should be directed to the plant’s leaves.

They look great as they sit. Need those fans.

Just a couple example pics. Ill show heavy canopy with lower budsites that will be stage harvested. Even with no direct light on the buds the fans around them harvest the photons. As long as airflow is good I personally keep full canopies.

I’m not a big trimmer either. Only enough to have good airflow to mitigate mold risk and ensure good CO2 replenishment. I run a fan directly into the plant’s canopy to help enable minimal trimming.

That is a pretty girl. Indica heavy. Rocks for buds I bet.

Instead of taking off the fan leaves with the plant being so small you could just do some lst style training and tie the outer ring of branches down to the container edges. That’ll open her up for better penetration.

I’ve always been told (taught) to open up the light to the lower Bud sights. But now after almost 3 years and never getting the big buds I’ve wanted, starting to make a believer out of me, current grow is 8 days in and I’m going to only take fans that block air, nothing else.
This forum is the best.
