I planted one photoperiod seed in a pot for indoor grow from 8/23 to harvest at 2/24.
At harvest, I pulled out the plant and root ball and put the pot with soil outside.
Now, (5/24) I have two cannabis seedlings spontaneously growing from that pot.
Can anyone help me understand how this could happen?
A - you had a herm…
B - somebody dropped some seeds…
C - you have the perfect cannafairy watching over you!!!
My money would be on herm that dropped a seed when you pulled it. I would hope for the cannafairy option. Have you found any seeds in the buds you harvested? I suppose it is possible you dropped a few when you were planting, but I would guess that they would have sprouted with the one you grew.
Did you have any dud no germ seeds in that you gave up on and did new seeds?
I have frequently seen dud seeds spontaneously germ 6 months to over a year later. What I mean is I have done a tray of starter pots, had a few duds, set them aside at repot for the healthy ones. Then forgot about the dud pot and set it aside all season. Then next season or some random day over a year later there is a seedling popping. I have experienced this probably over 20 times.
If it was a herm then it produced several ounces of buds.
I do mostly autos so fairly ignorant of what herms can do and not do.
Definitely not dropped seeds.
I like option C-I don’t have a green thumb so maybe the fairies are having pity on me.
Will let them grow outside for the summer to see what happens.
It all depends on when and how badly they herm. If it’s late enough in flower they won’t even produce any seeds. Sometimes you will only get one or two pollen balls and a few seeds. Sometimes the balls don’t even have viable pollen. There are too many factors to list, but sufficed to say herms can be unpredictable.
So I’ll show my ignorance by assuming these seedlings will be a waste to let grow.
Any chance they will grow into female plants?
Sounds like I would have to wait until the Fall to know if they will bud.
I try to comply with VA law which allows 4 plants-not sure I want these 2 plants counting for 2/4 if they won’t give me anything back.
It could also be some stray male pollen in the air, pollen can travel miles or more depending on the wind and could have managed to caused a few seeds to develop.
They will show their sex around 6 weeks from sprouting. If it was male pollen then you would have reg seeds. If it was hermie pollen then you are guaranteed female seed stock, but there is a good chance of reinforcing the traits that led to the hermie in the first place
