I am new at this and really happy to be here. This is my first official grow with bought seeds from ILGM, great soil, right temp and great lighting. I germinated 4 White Widow Autoflowering in water until about 1/4" tail. Planted the seeds down about 3/4" in the soil on April 1, 2023, as of today April 9, 2023 and nothing has broke through the soil. I am spraying them with water two to three times a day over florescent lights. Am I just impatient, or does it take that long to pop through the soil? Thank you for your help and Happy Easter!!
well if you did plant 3/4 inch down that is kinda deep IMHO…I plant so that it is just barely below the surface…you may try to poke in the hole where you planted and remove some soil other wise you will have to wait and see if she can make thru that much soil
3/4 is a deeper than than I go I plant about 1/4 I would take a pencil or toothpick and move the soil back carefully see if you can find and help them out
Thank you!
I thought the video said plant it down a knuckle, so that’s what I did. But after I read what other like you have said I think the knuckle thing was wrong. Do you think I should redo or just wait another few days?
This just happened to me 3 weeks ago, I did what you said there and its good
I would also suggest not watering so much. Seeds will rot under very wet conditions.
You want lightly damp not soggy soil and then cover with a clear dome like a clear solo cup or bottom half of a water bottle. The dome will keep the top from getting dry and once the seed breaks ground you can remove the dome. I like to pre moisten the soil to the point I cannot squeeze any water from it. Plant the seed after soaking it 24hrs tail or not, and then just wait. Too much water kills more seeds than too little which I have never seen here on the forum.
I imagine the knuckle reference would be if you look at your knuckle you can see the dips and valleys that are about a 1/4 inch above your hand skin… did you try to poke in the spot where you planted to see if you can see the seed?
Thanks Spiney! I just put another 3 seeds in a warm water cup. So only keep them in the water for 24 hours then plant them about 1/4" under light damp soil then place a dome over the container that I planted them in. After they break soil remove the dome and keep them growing. Do I have that right? I really appreciate this. I have been buying my wife about an oz a week and I am hoping I can grow some for her! Thank again!
That will work. Others use some variations of this, but that is the basics. The killer is too much water most of the time. And as others have stated about 1/4 to 3/8 deep.
Dave, I did what you said do with the toothpick. I found nothing! Do you think in your opinion, I sprayed too much water on them? I would sometime spray them three times because it looked like the soil was bone dry. I even stuck a tooth pick in the soil to see if it was damp. Thank for your help!!
Yes, I lifted up a lot of soil in two of the containers and I found nothing, not even the seed. I just dropped four more in warm water. After 24 hours I will drop them in the soil but this time I will do 3/8" or less. Thank you again for all your help. Everybody’s help!
You most certainly can do it. I learned everything I know about growing right here. I have a 3x4 tent that produces just over a pound each grow cycle for a total of over 3lbs a year Just what you need. Sometimes the advice and answers you get may seem contradictory, but there are lots of differing types of growers here and you have to sift through what works for you. And sometimes its because an issue may have more than one cause. Like if I have a cough it may be from several different things and I need a doctor to diagnose what is the reason

Yes it could have been the wet and the seeds turned to mush I do it like @Spiney_norman plant the seed couple sprays on the soil spray the inside of a clear cup and leave alone when the inside of the cup dries out I spay the cup and soil I leave the cup over the plant 7to 10 days
Also don’t throw out the other ones yet I had seedlings pop up after 2 weeks
I’m so sorry. Didn’t even see my auto signature was in. Thanks for the heads up.
Kind regards,

I would wait another week
Thanks! I will let you know how they turn out. I dropped another 4 seeds in water yesterday and will follow your instructions on these.
Will do, thanks!
I still haven’t seen the other three seeds pop yet. But I did another three seeds in warm water for about 24 hours and they did pop. I planted them in about 1/8" to 1/4 " in soil, sprayed them a couple of times, sprayed the inside of the cover, placed them over the pots. Now I wait. Let me know what you think.
