My seedling is 11 days old and she stopped growing! I also have two other ones that died and another one that stopped growing after 1 week and is already 1 1/2 months old (I started this new one after I seen the other ones decline) I germinated in shot glass ,distilled water and moved to organic seed starter which is mostly peat moss, perlite, poultry litter and yucca. They broke ground and was looking good now she’s looking yellow and not growing .ILGM white widow auto, daytime 75 to 78° nighttime 72 to 75, bottled water pH to 7.0. Black gold organic potting soil MPK 0.05 -0.00 - 0.00 fabric pot one gal,Grow box with open ventilation 2x4x5 ,two fans,ac controlled room, all pots are elevated on screen above dripping pan.Viparspectra XS 1500 at 75 to 80% 20 inches above plants
I have not been able to get these autos off the groundThe seedlings need to be covered with a clear dome for the first 10-14 days.
The soil needs to be damp, not wet, just damp to the touch so a spray bottle would help.
The seedlings don’t absorb water thru the roots until a root system is developed around week 2.
The clear dome is to help the seedlings get enough water, spray the inside of the dome with water 2 times a day or more if you are running lights 24hrs for the first few weeks. Until a root
system is formed, the seedlings absorbs water through humidity inside the dome. Keep in
mind you need to keep the soil around the seedling damp so the roots can form.
I think you have nutrient issues if they start to grow then stall out. Seed starter and the Black Gold organic potting soil are peat based products with only slow release fertilizer added. I’m not an organic grower so I’m not sure how to amend your soil to make it more compatible. I think you would have better success starting with cannabis friendly potting soil.
To confirm what @CMichGrower stated, your cots have already yellowed which means they’re depleted
I appreciate the responses! That sounds like everything I have done, I use a spray bottle to wet around the seedling and I cover it with a clear plastic cup with two slits
cut on top, After I spray the inside of the cup. I figured it was possibly the grow medium that I am using. I’ve used Jiffy potting soil before and it worked great. I figured I would get this organic mix and that it would possibly be healthier but I have not been able to grow one plant with itI too was thinking it had to do with the grow medium! I’ve used cheap Jiffy potting soil before and this is the result of that medium
I just didn’t know maybe I was doing something wrong so I turn to my grow family LOLIt’s ok to use peat based products, many growers prefer it. ProMix and Canna are two popular products that are often spoken of. You just need to feed it once the seedling comes up, and feed it often. Peat products don’t hold as much water so you need to water more often. Daily waterings won’t damage roots like growing in a strict potting soil would.
That eases my mind a bit lol, I did added Neptunes harvest kelp and some blood meal along with worm castings .That was about seven days ago possibly 9
Oh and I used dr earth 4-4-4 fertilizer also
Keep in mind too that organic soil needs moisture. The microbes need water to feed and break everything down. If that soil is too dry, the microbes are not feeding your plants.
Autos sometimes need their root to hit bottom to explosively grow , fully soaking medium will help(start of week 2) phed correctly
Ok cool, so I need to keep it moist but not saturated?
I didn’t know that about the roots needing to hit bottom! I figured they have a limited life span and would grow pretty fast
Yep gotta keep good humidity in seedling,or they gonna lag , you’ll notice in 1 day
I spray the inside of the clear plastic cup like 3-4 times a day, I took the cup off like a day ago when I noticed the color change and lack of development. It was growing what seemed like every few hours then stopped after the first true leaves
It’s gonna take a couple of tries and adjustments, soils looks alil dry , keep it up
I really appreciate it,very much! Everyone’s advice is valued
Do a good watering on your outer edges of your pot. You won’t drown you roots out there but will kick your microbes in gear
Ok cool I’ll ph some water and give me a drink!
Can I use garden safe brand root hormone in water to help them ? Is that a thing to do?
