Hello growmies!!
First grow and im getting a purple stem on one of seeding after it sprouts i notice more now in day 5.
What im using:
Foxfarm soil
Water with a root stimulator, which all seeding are being treated the same yet only this one has a different stem color.
Strains:
Alcapulco gold(this is the one with issues)
Gelato
Gorilla glue
There are 2 seedings of Acapulco gold only one with purple stem. What could be the issue here, if any?
Things look fine to me, however it looks like you may be over watering. Seedlings need very little water… Just a couple ml… A humidity dome(clear plastic bottle or something similar) will provide the plant the water it needs until roots grow out more and you develop proper leaves.
The only thing I have to add to what @Growmoredank has said is that purple stems are perfectly normal.
Yes i might have been watering too much as i just keep checking on the soil to water rather than having a set schedule as i see guys always doing…thank you a whole lot!!!
Thanks a lot!
No need for the root stimulator Growmie, that FF medium is loaded with everything needed for the 1st 6 weeks or so
Looking good keep up the good work. Right now the seedling stage is the hardest. Like others said watch the watering . Good luck
I’ve been told that thing “about purple stems” in the past…and i just don’t buy it at all.
In my observations it’s a just a trait some strains present and others don’t. Plenty of my plants show color on the stems but look healthy and produce like monsters.
Don’t love those babies to death cannabis has a complex relationship with water and typically hates to have its feet sitting wet. I let mine dry back pretty well before hydrating again. I stick my finger in the pot up to the first bone and if i can feel moisture i let her ride. You’ll also get used to the feel of a wet or dry pot.
I never give my newly germinated plants anything in terms of nutes or supplements. The cotyledons contain enough sustenance for 10+ days and their root system is just barely forming.
This is just a starting point to keep you on track. You need to water when they need hydration, and you’ll find this varies over time, and from plant to plant. Don’t water just because you’ve got it on a spreadsheet
I had that issue and yellowing of the leaf tips even Browning I first mixed 1 cup of brewed coffee to one gallon of water that helped tremendously and I’ve also done the same with 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar to one gallon of water
First pic is after 2nd pic is before or other way around you can see the difference
