Seed to Harvest — ILGM Girl Scout Cookies Extreme — Photoperiod — Indoor Grow

Hey there! So I just couldn’t return the inkbird so I found an affordable heater, dehumidifier, and humidifier. I have my fans (in-line included) attached and the cooling part of the inkbird temperature. Hope this all goes well. Should be getting the beans and the Supersoil this week and next.

I am confused as to why my PUR faucet water filter is kicking out these numbers on the Ph!

Poland Spring:
PH 7.2
Conductivity 56.0
TDS 40.8
SAL 0.03

PUR FILTERED WATER:
PH 7.64
Conductivity 96.6
TDS 68.0
SAL 0.05

Is the PUR filtered water safe for my plants? I’m using an APERA 5 in 1 meter

Please advise if you can. Thank you

Just let the filtered water sit for a while and tested it again. It gave me a ph of 7.4, an mS Conductivity of 4.78, TDS OF 3.4 now SAL is 2.41

I wouldn’t see why not… Aren’t the pur filters expensive?

You’ll go through gallons easily… Sorry if I’m misunderstanding your water filter… Have a pic?

I use a RO Buddie 4 filter 50 gpd. It produces close to zero ppm with the 4th stage Di filter. A 3 stage is just RO water.

Hey @Growmoredank ! Thank you for helping! So this is the faucet filter by PUR, I pre fill gallons and use them as needed.

I’m not sure why the ph is so high! And I don’t know what the ppm and conductivity is supposed to be. Or how to convert the calculations from one to the other.

I’m gonna look into the RO you have and see if I can get one or something similar that I can afford.

Thanks so much! I’m just getting ready for the beans and my bud trainer bags and clips! I’ve got soil and all the goodies! Tent is setup nicely with the inkbird. It’s just understanding what my water should be.

For years… I bought RO water from my local grocery store… Bought 3 5 gallon jugs that I kept refilling… Was pretty cheap as well.

Sounds like your ready to go. I’m following and watching this thread. I’m anxious for you to start. I’m almost ready to start my 2nd run here also… we will be growing together on the same time line. I am germinating this weekend i think. I have everything almost all reafy and set up and upgraded alot of my equipment. Its time for some little baby plants … to turn into monsters…

Here’s a pic of my RO Buddie with the added pump… I have low pressure well water.

@Negrita007 do you have well water or city water.

Make sure which ever filter you use, if city water with chlorine or chloramine(?) in it, you may have to do something else to treat that… @MidwestGuy do you know how to rid water of chlorine or similar?

Notice my rusty sink… It bad up here.

Thanks @Growmoredank ! That’s some production! Incredible! I’m in NYC, city water. I’m considering getting that filter you have but gonna have to rough it out with the PUR for now . I did some research and apparently my PPM is ok for the plants :joy::joy::joy: My ph was 7.5 so I lowered it.

I use my Apera and my Vivosun Ph and TDS meters to help me understand what the info actually means.

THE BEANS ARE HERE!

As of 9:06pm EST, I just dropped four seeds in 78-80 degrees water and put it in the cupboard. Let the count down begin!!!

I’m waiting on the Budtrainer bags and LST clips and wire. Hopefully they will get here soon. I’ll be using the rapid rooter to get the seed to seedling stage, then I’ll transplant them into their final home of 5 gallon fabric pots.

Your apera is a bit different than mine… I’d just concentrate on the ppm and pH.

I did some checking the PUR removes chlorine but not chloramine… Just make sure your water doesn’t have chloramine which is a water disinfectant.

@Negrita007 Awesome! Good luck!

I’d recommend transplanting to solo cups then bigger…with multiple transplants…i can stretch out my veg stage to 8 weeks without having to add extra nutes… Just pHed water or straight RO or distilled water.

I start in solo cups… Then to 1 gallon plastic pots, then ultimately to 7 gallon fabric pots. With Roots Organics Original soil.

It will not effect it what so ever.
Dr Bruce Bugbee did a video explaining how much light is to much at lights out.

After seeing thus video last year, i completely quit worrying about it and ive seen no difference in my grows.
I now flower photos with my flaps open at bottom of my tents and in a closet that has a 1½ in gap under the door and a 6in round hole in the wall and my plants transition and flower just fine with definite “light leaks”.
So you’re definitely ok if you need the heater at lights out :+1:

I use my tap water for soil grows, and hydroponics.
My tap ppm is around 100 and it does have chlorine in it but all drinking water has less then 4ppm chlorine by law and 100ppm of chlorine is perfectly safe for plants according to studys.

Thanks @Growmoredank ! I’ve got limited supplies but I’ll keep that in mind for the future!!

@1HappyPappy Thank you so much for coming through with this info! I literally have covered all the lights emanating from the heater, humidifier, and dehumidifier :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:.

I was freaking out about the water and understanding what the ppm and EC numbers were and what was good for watering my plants. Last night I spent about an hour testing my water and checking what ILGM had to say about ppm. I realized that I was in a safe zone and had to just get my water ph to 7 or 6.8 and I did. I have some ph down left from my very first grow. I OVER killed my plants with ph down cause I didn’t have a meter to measure the water. When I finally did, those first plants had a -3.2 ph! Last night I learned how very little of the ph down powder is needed to lower the ph. I’ve got two gallons of 6.9 ph on deck!

I buy gallons of water, use them for myself, and recycle the bottles to use for the plants water.

I appreciate the info!:heart::heart::heart: much love!

@anon34311147 BIG FACTS!!! Our babies are cousins! And I hope you have the most wonderful and successful grow, dry, and cure! I was nervous about the costs of upgrading some of my stuff so that I could use the inkbird. It only costs me $110 to upgrade my humidifier, dehumidifier, and heater to analog. I was able to return the digital humidifier and heater.

The beans are in! Can’t wait to see them sprout!

Same to you… seems like you have a better grasp on the pH and PPMs now. I went through the same thing you did. Thats why i jumped in to help you a few months ago. Its alot of data to take in at once and it can cause anxiety for sure.
Let the grows begin.

And I appreciate you so much @anon34311147 for taking the time and energy to look out for me! It was a master class on ph for sure. Glad I was able to get the right equipment for my babies! Gonna name them once they get their seed leaves :leaves:.

Yeah, trying to understand ppm and all the other stuff had my head spinning :face_with_spiral_eyes: for a minute. I’m learning and grateful for the experience of all the people who chime in to help out! Really does take a village. I’ve scanned the other website forums and found this one one to be the best!
