Seed Longevity - Long term vitality

Greetings. I also posted this question on the Lab side in case folks who are dual members see this same question twice.

With some of the seasonal seed specials like Black Friday and Cyber Monday running now, was considering stocking up but need advice on the long term vitality of stored seeds from ILGM.

For long term storage, I use a black aluminum anodized storage vault with a waterproof seal primarily used to keep matches dry for camping. I keep the airtight container in a spare fridge that doesn’t get opened often so the temperature is stable. I keep the seeds in a small zip lok jewelers baggie so the seed is not in direct contact with the aluminum vault.

Using the method outlined, what is the general rule of thumb regarding the vitality or germination success when storing seeds? Is 3 years stored properly pushing things?

I’ve germinated seeds over 3 years old kept in the fridge, they will last a long time like that.

Excellent. Robert has several 10+10 specials which is a good deal to stock up…provided the germinations rate is typically successful at 3 years IF stored properly.

Yeah, I was looking at those too, but I have so many seeds! Lol

Hold that thought for when I come and eat my way thru your city! I am thinking in terms of Mega Munchies.

The city is great for the munchies.

So far, I love the way the WW plant looks from Indica dominant genetics. My WW reminds me of the way a strawberry plant grows in the spring. Eventually, I’ll want to try some other strain so I will have other experiences. Is Northern Lights a pretty good strain to try for a novice 2nd or 3rd time indoor grower in a 2x2 tent?

I’ve never grown Northern Lights, but you can grow anything you want in that tent.

Yeah, the tent is perfect! I may try Northern Lights and we can compare notes.
