Hi to everyone. Ok going to start my second grow. Im doing autos in supersoil. Going to use 3 gallon fabric pots. Im starting the seed in the soil.
Someone suggested i use worm casting mixed in the water to help get the supersoil jump started.
My question would be, do i water the soil thoroughly with this mixture? Or do i just wet the area?
I dont know what super soil recipe you are using but id suggest making a plug out of something without alot of nutrients something like fox farms happy frog in the middle of the pot where you plant the seed so that the seed dosnt hit that super nutrient rich soil and get stunted or burned rite away and for watering you can saturate the soil before planting the seed just to where you have the slightest bit of run off that will allow the soil to become saturate well and you realistically shouldn’t have to water for quite a few days just keep a clear cup or dome over the seedling until its above ground note: it usually takes roughly 1 to 2 quarts for me to fully saturate my 3 gallon pots
The reason they’re saying to do the poop is because it is loaded with micro critters and that’s always a good way to start but if you have some store bought micro mix powder it would work the same. All that said the super soil is probably full of different types of poop n compost which is loaded with the same microbes so it’s not necessary to add it.
Moisture is super important when growing in super soil (just a different name for living soil) like @LiesGrows said you need to wet all the soil and it’s best to never let it dry out. The best way I’ve heard it described is think of it as a scale from 1-10 one being dry and ten is soup you want the soil to stay between 4 and 7 from start to harvest this keeps the micro life happy n healthy and they are what feed the organic material to the plants
