Aluminum would be awesome. You can probably get away with some half inch angled stuff and construct something super low profile and very easy to clean. Think on including adjustable legs as well. Higher lower.
Which in particular? 
2x4’s used this way usually generate anywhere from 13 oz to 1.5lb
