Hello. So just noticed these spots on one of my girls. I’m not sure if they can be a rust infection or deficiency or if it’s from overwatering. I used a bit too much sulpomag and I flushed them a couple days again so I’m thinking it’s from that but really want another opinion.
The ph is usually 5.8 although I didn’t test during the flush. Could do a slurry test later if needed. These spots aren’t on all the leaves or even on the same level. They are on the top half of the plant. Only one of the two plants have them as well. My other girl looks fine.
I usually use jacks 321 which requires 1.1 grams of epsom salt per gallon. Last feeding would’ve been 1 week ago. I actually put a bit of cal mag in the last bit of watering I used for the flushing along with a bit of fox farm micros. Although I’m not sure if that was a waste.
Is this the medium soil or coco, PH posted above is ideal for coco but the feeding frequency mentioned is ideal for soil. PH would be the issue if the medium is soil and the feeding frequency/dry coco would be the issue if the medium is coco. 2 very different PH and feeding frequency requirements. Calcium uptake is being prevented by one of these depending on the medium used
My apologies, knew I forgot to include something. But I’m using soil. Fox farm ocean forest to be specific. That actually explains a lot because I tried adding a bit of dolomitic limestone into the other plant that isn’t having the same problem
The PH of 5.8 is out of range for soil Grow Bro, a re-set flush may be needed to get that in the lower range of 6.3. This low PH in soil is preventing calcium and probably magnesium and Potassium absorption. What nutrients are you feeding
I use jacks 321 and I have a bottle of liquid fox farm micro along silica and a cal mag supplement.
Should I add a bit of limestone in and get the ph up along with a supplemental feeding? I usually feed once a week with the jacks 321 but I’m having to give a few days for them to dry out.
You could try a few feedings at a PH of 6.8-7.0. Dolomite lime takes a minute to break down. Typically a build up of salts from synthetic fertilizer happens when not feeding to liberal run off (critical to discard the run off and not let this wick back into the soil) this build up will drive up the PPMs and tank the PH, I’ve also seen quite a bit of the FF mediums (soil) experiencing a lot of PH issues. For your next grow I would recommend their coco loco, I’ve been using it for 4 years with no issues
I have some hydrated lime that’s in a powder form I can add into the water, would that be ideal?
I’m not sure if I water enough to consider call it a liberal amount, probably around 8 oz. However I don’t allow them to wick the water back up. I put them on an oven rack type thing, the water drains into a container and I can empty that when finished. I would worry about root rot having them sit in water.
I’ll have to try out the coco loco. I’ve only used the happy frog for seedlings and transplant into ocean forest. Would it be a bad idea to repot her into some new soil? I’m nearly into week 4 of flower so idk if that would stress it too much or allow a quicker recovery
