Room Temperature

I believe my plant was thriving much better when my grow room (closet) was between 78°-82° but now that is is colder in my basement it’s between 68° when the light is off during the night and 72° when the light is on. I do have a a heating mat under the plant with 2" gap between the mat and the plant which is providing heat. Should I add a small heater, the room is 5’x2’ and what would the recommendations be?

IF you add a small heater don’t add it directly in the grow room it will do more harm then good probably. If you can leave it outside the door. 68 isn’t bad for a low temp alot of people drop to that during flower to try and bring colors out. But I think if I remember correctly cannabis is most happy between like 70-80. Your not far off but as winter gets colder yeah you might want to add heater outside grow room door maybe? Others will jump in and give some good advice too! Good luck my friend and Happy holidays! Happy growing :muscle::v::sunglasses:

You know i noticed the same with my white widow auto it was thriving in temps of 30-32 degrees instead of the temps of 25 degrees

Cooler temps deff slow down growth which could be good or bad.
I have a small 700 watt oil heater inside my grow and working great. Bought a controller but unhappy with it so far so I’m not using it.

If you’re going to, use something like an oil-filled radiator-type heater. You don’t want to be blowing hot ait around in there.

My grows run at 65F at night and 75F during the day. Never had a problem with good harvests.

I’ve added a portable heater before in the Winter when temps are lower. Just be sure to have a fan circulating air in the grow space to keep a consistent temp throughout the tent.

All good info above. As @MidwestGuy stated the temps he runs are identical to what my temps are. I have a White Widow that’s a little finicky with lower temps but I get great yields and natural strain colors with lower temps :love_you_gesture:. I also place a small heater outside the tent when the temps drop below 65.

All good info, thank you.

I use the little fireplace looking heaters with the knob thermostat as well as Ac’s as I’ve found heaters and AC’s that are electronic sometimes don’t come on.

Buy an Inkbyrd Thermostat that has the heat and cool plug for 30 bucks on Amazon and turn the knob to the right wide open on the heater and set the Inkbyrd at 77 degrees and your problem is solved.

Just moved flowering to colder tents and all auto/photo in veg to warmer tent. Oil filled heaters are the bomb. Cheap. Low electricity cost. No moving parts. Super safe. Need no fan on them. Natural circulation. Colder can slow veg to a standstill. After move this week all vegging plants perked right back up and started exploding.
