@nobo77, I’m going to start watering the little ladies a couple inches out like u suggested so those roots can grow out. They have shot up today and are starting to get taller and they are needing more water so that’s a good sign. Ok so on ILGM when you look at different strains of seeds, there is a chart that gives u the description of everything it is. Mine say that they flower in 8 weeks. So does that mean that whole life cycle of the plant is 8 weeks? It says that for the northern lights, amnesia haze and the blueberry they all say 8 weeks. Could someone elaborate on that please lol. @Nicky, I’m also excited for the northern lights…and @Amazon66, I’m like your husband I’m more of a Inda couch kinda guy lol. Also, I’m a first time home buyer and I don’t know bubkiss about anything. I do have a water softener. I know that the water from the softener will kill the plant because of the excess of sodium chloride. My question is if u have a water softner does it soften the water outside of your house to your spikets outside?
Depends if it’s an autoflower or photo, almost all of the time they give the 8 weeks as a guide for flowering only, (usually add at least a week or two because they are talking about absolute ideal conditions in a professional grow let’s say) so add the veg onto this cycle and your looking at 11 weeks minium. My autos are 11 weeks from seed to harvest and I think that’s fairly fast so a photo would depend on how long you vegged it for.
Good call on the soft water I didn’t know that, my parents have one and have it in the basement tied into the house water line, our water lines out mside do not come from the house but we live on a Ranch so you would have to look at your lines and think where they come from.
It all depends where they tied in the water softener and where the out side taps tie into water lines.
@Bakerschoice my watersoftener just runs to my sink and utilities… Not sure if your outside sources are connected to your system or not, I would trace down all the lines that come off of your system to know for sure… what I do is use a few water jugs and ph them out with ph down and leave them in my tent to adjust temp.I have very hard water that is 7.0 +ppm. Not sure if its the correct way… only been at it a couple weeks… I am starting with photos, so I havent really researched autos much but i would think thats how long from beginning of flower… again im no expert… I have heard around here that @blackthumbbetty runs autos and very very good at it, Im sure if you found her and asked your questions she would be invaluable! Just transplanted my White widows and was suprised that the root structure wasn’t more pronounced… They both had a bit of leaf curl… thinking it might be overwatering… maybe im a bit overanxious because the top growth looks fine… anyway will post pics later this afternoon and hopefully someone can give me a direction to go!
Happy Growing!
Tag me in, anytime!
Hi @blackthumbbetty If I tagged you in on my photos would you be willing to follow? Im still very new at this and I hope to surround myself with great growers…I have been browsing around and seen where you have helped so many ppl! If you dont mind…
Happy growing!
@blackthumbbetty come on down your the next contestant on power to the flower lol. Yeah I have autos 3 strains norther lights, amnesia Hayes and blueberry two or indaca dominant and the amnesia is sativa. They all say 8 weeks to flower. So how long for veg, seedling? How long can I expect from seed from harvest? Is that what the 8 weeks mean? Or is it the plant has 8 weeks left once it starts to flower. @nobo77, when your ready show us what u got! I was getting over zealous w the water too but I said hey Damit…let’s let them get just a little dry as to where a wet spot around the plant is very vague and then give them what they want.
Haven’t tried lemon let me know.
@Nicky, I’ll get out there n look it’s just that it’s winter here and water pump is under the house or I should say trailer it’s a double wide…but a nice trailer lol. So I’ll have to do some investigating. Water outside if for washing the car and garden and other things…why would u want excess salt on that stuff. That’s why I’ve been sticking to distilled water but I’m going to sprint water instead so I can get the calcium and magnesium in it for the plants but I also have roots organic cal mag that u can top dress amend the soil or make a tea. I’m going to top dress in a couple of weeks and if I do see some deficiencies, I will make the tea with it. All my fertilizers are organic…going to be interesting none the least. Nothing ventured…nothing gained haha hahahahahah
Time for autos is typically counted from week one of veg (not germination). I have found MOST breeder’s times use the earliest possible harvest week, so I usually add a couple weeks to that estimated time.
To be honest, I’ve stopped paying much attention to those estimates: the plants are ready when they’re ready, right? Only time I really pay attention is if the plant is done extremely early or late; then, I double check the average harvest time to see how out of whack my plants were compared to a normal grow.
Where is you water softener tied in?
Are the taps outside connected to the trailer?
I have a single wide 1978 with a very nice attachment I love it best starter home (I’m 32 with my last mortgage payment in September) ever don’t share walls like in a condo, have a yard and a shed sooo much love for it. It’s renovated pretty nicely. Probably buy a lot or piece of property on the edge of town and get a 2018 (changed building codes in 2017 here) when me and the wifey upgrade, I need a shop, room to park my toys and she wants a bigger yard one day.
I personally don’t like top dress because you don’t know how much your giving, I like teas and to measure their TDS so I know what I’m feeding.
I would think a water store or filler at the grocery store would have those big water jugs of RO water cheap once you pay for the jug.
Oh did you say winter?
Yup I’m in winter to lol got a love Canada, the cold keeps bad things away
@Nicky lol I used to live in Minnesota and North Dakota so I know what that’s all about. That’s just a typical day. Last year was the last year in Minnesota Northdakota and -75 after 3 months of it being -20. -30 below everyday we were like ok…enough lol…though I do miss it at times. I picked up one of those big 5gal jugs w water in it and it was like 4 dollars so I’m going to do the refills to get them cheaper so it wouldn’t be so bad. I can control everything else temp humidity it always seems there’s some extreme that u have to cover that is going to cost some cash for u it’s humidity right? Being to low? I’ll probably look into getting reverse osmosis for under the sink or something but that won’t be cheap either. Perfection was easy for Jesus but not us…we’ll keep driving forward! Manifest Destiney!!!
Thank you @blackthumbbetty…I appericiate that will help!
The RO Buddie is a great, inexpensive portable ro system. I have the 4 stage, but never bother with the DI cartridge, so I use it as a 3 stage filter.
That’s awesome! When money is right I’m ordering that next month. Thanks @blackthumbbetty. Does it still have the calcium and magnesium and iron in it or does it take that all out. It’s good to have those 3 for your plants but u person can always use cal mag fertilizer or organic. Lol, I suppose I could have read the description but that looks like a future buy thanks my friend
Why don’t you bother with the 4 stage?
@Baker’schoice I had to google that to make sure you weren’t pulling my chain, I knew north Dakota to be the one place in the US (Alaska doesn’t count) that had really cold weather and oil & gas production but I didn’t know it got that cold there to be honest.
It seems like these last handful of years Jan and feb really kick us in the teeth hard then its back to normal Temps. My water froze at home today the girlfriend called had to send the plumber but thankfully it was only a thermostat wire on the heat tape for the water main only 250$ to fix…
Yeah we all have something we struggle with, mine is definitely humidity in the winter and then come summer it’s pay to AC the grow room for 3 months or take your chances with rain/win storms and a short season above 12c (53f) and lack of sun in my little back yard. Although I can fix the humidity I just need to go get 2 new humidifiers but trying to break even first on my 5000$ investment for 2 tents (yea my first one cost me alot cuz I didn’t know wtf i was doing).
The cal and the mag in your water will never be enough to not feed cal and mag, glad the water issue is sorted for now though.
Just bc. No reason. I honestly started with 3 stage. I bought a 2nd one, the 4 stage, on sale for less than the 3 stage. I never needed the DI, so no reason to hook it up.
Definitely read up on RO water.
Yes the water, when I hear reasonable or inexpensive I’m on it! Getting set up and all that mumbo jumbo and jargon that comes w it gets expensive! I remember two years ago a lake where we had our camper at seasonally, the lake froze all the way through! It was like -20 -30 everyday and colder fro almost 3 months in a row. Watched the city come out w a pay loader and scoup up dead fish by the buckets it was sad…climate change or just another cold ass Minnesota winter who knows. Spent 14 months in the dessert and ide rather be cold…that’s just me
It’s the wind that makes North Dakota special! Go visit sometime…you’ll c
I’m on a lake right now because there is oil wells from the 50’s and we are abandoning them
I think an extreme of any measure sucks but we can prepare for them and it’s our artificial environment and conditions that make it tolerable.
I like the hot but I’m a skinny guy.
Anyways I’ll stop the random chatter lol
@blackthumbbetty what is DI for the 4th stage?
