6 week old auto. ive never defoliated a plant before but wanted to attempt it this time. Do i need to let it get more into the flower stage first? Is there a point when it actually to late to do it? Thanks all

I would leave it alone until about three weeks into flower before removing leaves. Anything you do to an auto will potentially slow it down.

Thank you for your response. I have been leary of doing much with my autoflowers because I have heard how finicky they can be. upon reading more I believe I am going to forego defoliating her. I just dont believe im at a place where im comfortable taking that chance. I havemt been around many grows or growers but the 2 friends I do have that tried growing ended up with small autoflowers one yielding less than an ounce and the other yielding less than 2. so while my grows havent been spectacular they havent been horrible. I want to try my first photoperiod grow after this plant finishes up so im kinda hoping for a good take off this gal to kinda buffer my courage to try new things.

If it were me and that were MY plant I would be FiM’ing every bud site to ultimately double your sites. I do this and they explode
These pics were taken within the span of a week to ten days after FIM. It doubled and tripled in some sites. I lollipopped in week 2-3 of flower. Started LST after she had 4-5 nodes. Hope this helps buddy. Just my two cents is all.

My first autoflower only yielded 7 grams dried. So I get your stunted worry. All about timing and of course the phenotype you’re growing. I would try LST first and get her opened up before you do defoliating. Or do it all in one whack and knock the stress out in a day then leave her be. Maybe even some leaf tucking after LST. Probably couldve defoliated more but didn’t want to go too ham
This will only be my 4th plant. Ive always and only ever done a tie down on my autos. usually between week 3-4 depending on how fast they are growing. I kinda want to do more with them but just worry over stunting them and wrecking my harvest. Im hoping that I may enjoy Photoperiods more. If this plant comes through like im hoping I should have enough bud in the bank to last the wife about 8 months. Then I am going to try my hand at my first photo. I a blueberry strain seed just waiting…
