Just gently pull apart that section and if it looks soft and brown (mushy like) then it’s rot. Can’t explain it but you’ll know it if you see it. Just doesn’t look like a healthy bud. IF you do and want to post a pic of it, we can make a judgement.
I’ve definitely got some bud rot issues and some due to worms, insects etc. just thought there might be a more “positive” way of identifying if it was internal and worth attempting the “salvage”
Always best to remove it asap before it spreads throughout the bud. Always throw away a good 1-2 inches above and below the rotted spot and make sure to do a post harvest bud wash with H2o2 (I actually wash twice, first one in H2o2 and the second in a mix of lemon juice and baking soda).
Thanks! Yes have had some Great guidance on here that have said the same just doing my best to figure out which salvageable or not and then with the weather getting cooler tonight and tomorrow before my next warm-up that’s an issue also

Looking good Dave.
You’re not talking about the weather?
Freezing and wet in the lowlands.
Blowing and wet all day today.
Plant doing great(sleeping, now).
Been 20/4 may go 18/6.
Soil being learned and most appear to like.
8-days since re-home and up-pot into my soil.
Seedlings you raised are amazing.
Be safe.
Cold and wet. I hate it. Tomorrow, football all day in front of the fireplace. And trim buds off stalks of cellar dwellers.
Stay warm, dry and safe. And stoned!
Happy growing @Spudgunner old friend. Hope you are enjoying the grandkids and retirement.
Every day, buddy! Got my routine down, 2 good walks and puffs with Sheba, tend to the ladies occasionally, have grandson every Friday, wife is working, life is good!
How’s the aquarium business going?
The clone and re-veger, still live.
They may not like me for keeping them in small containers, still.

Thankful, I am.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Great to hear, power is back on, after the Bomb Cyclone, last week.
Visited the Grow Store today (not the Green Store).

Took a while to get here but would not trade the journey (upgrade the travels, maybe fewer learning experiences that included trips to the hospital).
Still this side of the dirt.
One day at a time.
Forum friends make the journey more fun.
Ha, glad you are still this side of the dirt too.
Better to be pulling cannabis instead of pushing pansies!
My worst nightmare, now.
Been known for not smart decisions and activities.
Tulips, please.
Pansies would be double punishment.
Hehe, what’s better than a dozen roses on a piano?
Tulips on an organ!
@DEEPDIVERDAVE happy anniversary to you and the other half. Congratulations
