Rapid Rooter Plugs

Day 1- put 3 AK47 in distilled water in dark place
Day 2- put in Rapid Rooter plugs & put in plant tray dome. I couldn’t get plugs to stand up so I made a toothpick base.
Day 3- two have long white root. I got to thinking I messed up by not covering up holes. So I sprinkled a little seedling starter dirt over tops & misted.

Germination is in house in dark bathroom.
Temp 78-80
Humidity around 70%

Spider Farms SF2000 2x4 tent w/Samsung LM3018 light set up in room in garage.
Soil-planted 1 in West Coast & 2 in Fox Farms

Did I mess up by not covering sooner?
Should I move seedlings to tent?
Should I put pods my fabric pots?
When should I start my 18/6 light schedule?

This newbie doesn’t want to mess up.
Thanks for any helpful info!

I’ve never used Rapid Rooter Plugs, but by the sounds of it that’s your tap root!
Your tap root will grow vertical until it reaches the bottom & then starts to branch out.
You could plant your whole Rapid Rooter Plug into your pot now.
Keep domed until you see your first set of true leaves,
Do not over water & keep lightly misting as the top of your medium drys out (keep dome misted) your humidity is great where it already is, try keep it at 70.
Start your lighting schedule as soon as you break ground.

Im using something similar for my clones(eazy plugs)

I have Never used them for sprouting!!!

They are very easily over watered, and are very compact. Too compact for the young plant? It seems so…

Even my clones won’t go in easily, so i stab them with the scissors half way down and loosen the middel up a little…

Squeeze them HARD to get the water out after soaking/before planting…

It seems your tap root thinks it reached bottom and is pushing the plant up, this white part coming out of the plug does seem to be the root…

If this was my grow i would take the whole plug with seed and burry it, so the seed remains 1cm under the earth.

@Jewel Put it in soil/ grow medium immediately, lightly cover head of seed so it just see light

You may need to help get seed shell off plant, keep soil dry until that Rapid rooter drys up some

Are they upside down, the tap root appears to be coming from the top of the rapid rooter on two of those while the 3rd has helmet head

Thank you guys. I’m going to plant in fabric pot when u get home.
So is it ok to start my light schedule (18/6) or do I need to keep in dark a little longer?

Thanks everyone who responded with advice!

If that’s the tap root do I need to turn upside down when I put in pot?

Wen you put them in you have to put the seed on top and the white tap root down

I’d carefully cut the plant free of that rapid rooter in those cases. Use tweezers to gently remove it without putting pressure to any parts of it

When setting seeds round bulb like side up, pointy end goes down

To make things easier too. Before you put a seed in the rooter. Slice the side of the rooter so you can open it up to position the seed how you want with out damaging the tap root. @PharmerBob has the rest covered. You want to get it into a pot soon after you see the root coming through. These are cheap and great for starting rooters. The price ranges from this to about 15.00 depending on the day it seems lol @Myfriendis410 for the edit
