Buddy deer hunts with a 45-70 fun to shoot
Only a few âgunsâ I wonât shoot again ,500 S&w ,375 H&H, 375 Rem mag no sir no how they hurt.
I shoot a lot of rimfire. I have a mini range at the house and we are outisde of the city limits still. I go to the range to shoot center fire. Too many new neighbors. My neighborhood is growing
Clearly I am bbs code illiterate
45-70 is a potent low pressure round. Benches shoot one for about 5 rounds and you might call it a day
@Myfriendis410 start from post 1, you have friends here .
Lots of like minded individuals here. Iâm not really into this old krusty stuff (kidding) but Iâve been known to indulge in some lead therapy.
@MidwestGuy that is a nice rig. It will disable light armored vehicles at 1000 meters
Whatâs the make/model or is it a custom build
Savage model Stealth Evolution
1,000 yards is a pretty easy shot with it. I have had it out to a mile (1,680 yards.)
No doubt! I see a patron at the club with a 338 ever so often. The blast off of that brake when it goes off requires some space for other shooters. Powerful round with a projectile that looks like a torpedo
Yeah. I put a suppressor on it because shooters in the bays next to me would always complain about the concussive wave.
Iâm a hunter, shooter, reloader and bullet caster. My favorite range rifle is a Sharps in 45/70 and is a joy to shoot.
For big game I have a Cooper in 340 Wby Mag: about 100 fps hotter than the Lapua. Just had a Remington LSS blueprinted in 300 win mag and likely what Iâll use for deer this year. My previous go-to rifle is a Ruger No. 1 in 257 Wby with a Krieger barrel.
My normal shooting though is skeet. I have a high-end Beretta tubed in 20, 28 and .410 for shooting all gauges in registered skeet. Just picked up a CZ Sharptail in 28 gauge for birds.
Iâve got a Beretta 1301 Tactical. I love it for accuracy, but it doesnât cycle consistently, even with heavy loads.
I shoot more rimfire than anything. I have a CZ 17HMR that I put a Boydâs stock on that is a hoot. Well under MOA shooter and the wife likes it as much as I do. It has a cheap little Nikon scope that is clear and sharp. I probably shoot more rimfire than anything because I can safely do it on my small property. I have a few small steel targets at the back and several of my 22LR long guns are suppressor ready and they shoot CCI standard velocity ammo well.
A few pics. The Remington 700 is the last year of their annual âclassicâ release from 2005 in .308. Just put a triggertech trigger in it and made a huge difference.
I put Giessele 2 stage triggers in my precision rifles.
I put a geissel in one of my ARs and it was great for bench shooting but didnât meet the requirement of a battle rifle trigger. Replace it with a Timney milspec single stage that breaks at ~4 lbs. much better for that. The trigger tech I put in that hunting rifle is two stage and it performs well - especially over the factory trigger.
I donât have a purpose built precision rifle but plan remedying that soon. Plan is to buy an Aero Precision 700 barreled action in either 6mm CM or 6.5 CM. Given ammo for the 6.5 is so much more abundant, probably the latter. Not sure what optic and deciding on a chassis or a custom Boydâs stock.
I have the same model Savage in 6.5 Creedmoor. Itâs a great rifle.
