I’m having problems with my vivosun grow hub 42. Doggone thing just stops showing temperature and rh inside tent. I’ve waited patiently for vivosun to respond and grow tired of waiting. Has anyone experienced this problem before? I’ve reset, double checked sensors and shut off all power going to tent. The vivosun grow light and circulation fan is running on the app and are keeping the schedules I’ve input so I’m completely stumped. Any help is so very much appreciated.
Good luck with that mine loses calibration so much I had to get my own meters so I know what’s really going on in there.
Yeah I heard that!! I’ve got a different thermometer/hygrometer unit separately inside because I don’t believe in one accuracy testing. Measure twice, cut once right?? Thanks bro. @JPhoenixX,…I did have one question directly for you? Will recalibration do the trick? And how do you accurately recalibrate the damn thing?
I have a wireless hygrometer/thermometer inside and outside of the tent that I use to monitor. I recalibrate the controller when it gets wonky, usually once or twice a day. I swear it will switch the tent with the probe numbers sometimes, it gives me all kinds of silly numbers lol yesterday it told me it was 53 degrees in my spare bedroom…
To get to the calibration screen open the app click on the temperature reading then on the 3 dots up in the right corner calibrate is the last option on the list.
You have to be quick tho it likes to update itself while you are changing numbers then it gets goofy. I just do one at a time so adjust temp hit confirm, adjust rh hit confirm. Then back to the main screen to make sure its set right.
It’s frustrating and makes me wonder if I got a bad one or if I should have just gone with ac infinity
I agree @JPhoenixX .I often wonder after countless videos on YouTube whether I need to switch to the AC/Infinity hub…I’ll calibrate my thermometer/hygrometer as you explained. And quite well I might say. Thanks again.
No problem glad I could help. Let’s hope yours holds better than mine does
Two possibilities: 1. The probe’s connection to the controller is loose or compromised in some other way. 2. The probe has gone bad. If you have or can borrow a working probe that has a compatible plug, try it and see.
I’ve never seen this problem. I have an E42A, though, so there may be an important difference.
Thanks for all the input. I believe I’ll just let vivosun customer service know and forget about loyalty to them. Should’ve listened to the negative feedback on YouTube. AC Infiniti seems like the best choice for a hub. Unfortunately Vivosun doesn’t answer any questions.
I guess you got a good one. I was very disappointed I spent a fair amount of time looking into them. I was planning on getting a second one for a veg tent but I can’t trust what it tells me
@420dOG : Do you have an E42 or an E42A? Is it still under warranty? Have you checked the probe as I suggested? My E42A stopped showing temp and RH once – I discovered that the probe’s plug wasn’t seated fully into its jack.
Vivosun responds promptly to me, although it can take 24 hours or so because they’re in China. It’s helpful to use short, simple sentences with them because of the language difference.
@JPhoenixX : Your problem is obviously different and is most likely caused by a faulty controller. If it’s still under warranty, I’d ask for a replacement.
Yep. I heard that. Yes its under warranty. Just got it 4 days ago. They answered asking for the order number and pictures of the issue so they’ll better understand. I didn’t know they were in China. Lol…advertise themselves being built in America thats why I went with them. But I do under the language barrier…I’ve got the vivosun thermometer and hygrometer unit so I’ll try the probe that came with that. Now that I know the whole China thing it’s hilarious and I’m actually smiling instead of being mad. Adorable!! Thanks again @Venturi Oh…I’ve got the 42 grow hub.
I have a E42A and the temp and humidity meters are garbage. Can easily be out of calibration 5-10% rh inside and outside tent and the temp 5 degrees or so. I eventually switched to all ACI equipment and their pro controller is dead on accurate out of the box.
I’ve never seen them claim that. I’m surprised that a 4-day-old controller from them would be the discontinued version. Where did you buy it?
In any case, give them a chance before you write them off. I’ve found them to be fair and honest.
Have you tried doing a reset? (By poking a paperclip or whatever through the little hole that provides access to the tiny button.)
I believe you’re saying that your E42A gave crazy low readings of RH and temp. Did you try calibrating them to read correctly?
FWIW, I have an ACI T3 humidifier that has it’s own temp/RH probe. (Made in Switzerland, like Vivosun’s, but smaller). I have a rubber band around the 2 probes so they’re sampling the (almost) exact same spot. They track perfectly.
Yeah the readings werent accurate at all. I got it on amazon with my 3x3 grow kit of theirs. Dont get me wrong, the controller is nice and so is the app but i didnt calibrate it. It was during a grow so didnt want to take the probes out and mess with trying to salt calibrate or buy a 2 way pack to do it. The reading for the outside were just as off so the entire unit would need to go into a bag. Just wasnt worth it. So i used a grovee bluetooth monitor. Now that i have two 5x5s i probably wont be using the vivosun really anymore. Maybe for early veg but dunno.
I bought it on the vivosun app. Whoops, sorry. I do have the 42A grow hub. Thought it was the 42 until I looked at the app and clicked on the devices, and grow hub specifically and its saying 42A. I believe Amazon advertised vivosun as American made when I bought the tent from them. Everything else I’ve gotten has been through the app shop. Humidifier, dehumidifier, aerolight 1000se and E6 fan. Maybe the tent and frame were built in America. It doesn’t matter I’m glad I wasn’t sold a discontinued grow hub
@Serf : If you trust the Govee, adjust the E42A so it’s temp & RH readings match, and see if it goes out of whack afterward. If so, it’s defective and should be exchanged.
@420dOG : A lot of the brands we know are manufactured in China and many are designed there, too. Call ACI sometime with a technical question that can’t be answered by looking at a spec sheet and see if you can talk with one of their designers or engineers.
My E42A makes managing and monitoring my tent’s environment much easier, and the fact that I can do that anywhere I have cellphone reception is super convenient. I wouldn’t want to do an indoor grow without a controller.
ACI’s is good but they use proprietary cables – you have to buy adapters from them to control other brands. In many cases, the only option is to plug the “foreign” device into a switched power outlet, which means the ACI controller can turn it on and off but nothing more.
Understood @Venturi
Hey @Venturi !! Everyone!! I wriggled the jack at the grow hub connection and boom! Surprise, Surprise! It’s working. I feel bad for taking ya’lls time today. I’m waiting for a friend to bring me some gifted smoke. My anxiety is thru the roof waiting patiently though. Got an easy question. What’s an ideal temperature and rh for my seedling? There’s different opinions and Google says 64° - 78° with rh during veg. 40% - 60% and flower 60%-80%…???By the way it’s an indoor, autoflower. Moonberry Kushrocks from MNSL Seed Bank
I wouldn’t say usb type c cables are proprietary. I use non-aci thing like my grow lights, requires a rj11 to usbc adapter but thats about it. Whereas the vivo has one of those ports built in. You can also use any usb c multiport hub to use multiple fans or exhausts without needing their brand logo on the device. You can even diasy change those port expanders etc. Their newest controller can have 32 devices attached now with “ai” tech to hone in a perfect environment without you needing to do much. I see vivosun as the kmart brand hardware wise. Its easier first setup and not by much but thats about it. Their tents seem about the same quality, but the aci newest gen tents are awesome.
Im not a fan of the wifi on either brands controller. Your data has to pass through their servers and if they go down your sol or have a data breach who knows what is exposed. So i stick to bluetooth only. Sure its nice to be on vacation and check in but if soemthing goes wrong nothing you can do about it.
Seedlings like a higher temp and high humidity. Flower lower temp lower humidity. I kept my seedling 75 to 85F and 70+ rH. Veg the same. Flowering i keep it 80F and 55-60% rH
