Now dont get me wrong im not a fanboy of either but if i had to pick the better gear and app it would be ACI. I started my grow in vivosun tent and gear then moved to aci tent and gear. Wasn’t because i didnt like vivo i just wanted to try something else going to a larger tent and dont regret the switch.
This is real time since I’ve gotten my hub issue resolved. Maybe my rh has gotten up there but not by much according to the standards you set. I’ll definitely write down the suggestion and use it for this grow. The wedding cake I’m not sure which stage of growth it’s into. Unfortunately I had to leave town and my sister in law wasn’t green thumb’ded. My girl was lying on top of the soil roots and all. Luckily my mom,78 years young was raised on a working farm and brought life back into the little thing. Last two days she hit a growth spurt of 2 1/2"…idk?? Maybe, maybe not. I’ve included a picture. Sorry it’s a little blurred but my grow cam should be here Saturday. Bluetooth with an app for something. I can’t wait!!
Those values look fine. I grow hydro so not super versed in soil. It looks like the soil is fairly wet but could just be the color of soil. How old is she, from time she broke ground? They always seem to start slow then explode.
My wedding cake girl is in week 6 of flower atm. You can always go check my grow/troubleshooting post on my journey with her. Its linked on my profile. Just click my profile photo and you will see it. Will go over things like environment and lighting etc.
@Serf …According to my Mary Jane grow journal app (free) and quite useful and user-friendly, she’s 11 weeks old. I realize that’s old but like I said she was lying roots and everything on the top of the soil cast away like garbage. Trust Noone with the responsibility of caring for your plants like I did. Anyway my brother suggested that just possibly it lay dormant the whole time the plant lay without sun, or warmth or whatever. I replanted it and couldn’t even get it to stand up on its own without propping it and then the transformation began with green vibrant growth so who knows right?? Let’s see. In the same tent my germinated seed popped into daylight from the jiffy peat pellet that I’ve had successfully used for every grow. Lol…She showed her gorgeous lust for life this morning after 72 hours of warmth and darkness and I misted the peat pellet when needed careful not to overmist it.
The bottom picture is of the Mary Jane app.
Your soil looks a little too wet make sure you let it dry between waterings and it looks like your ph is 5.7 that’s way to low for soil you need to be around 6.5 - 6.8 range that will help her take up some nutrients she looks a little hungry
Will do. Thanks. I’m not sure the amount of water that I should give at each watering.
@420dOG : Glad to hear it was just a bad connection.
Rather than managing temp and RH separately, I manage VPD. For seedlings, the usual recommendation is to keep the VPD < 1 so the seedling can absorb moisture from the air. I’ve found, though, that it’s better to keep VPD slightly > 1 because, otherwise, I lose seeds that have germinated to fungus and mold infections.
The plant in your photos is past that risk but the length of the stem suggests it wants more light. Do you know how much it’s getting?
I wouldn’t, either. It’s ACI’s connectors that are USB-C – the cables don’t conform to the USB-C standard. I was floored when they told me this and asked twice to be sure I’d understood. I didn’t think to ask what happens when a user who’s unaware of this plugs something in using a USB-C cable. Maybe you know? (Please don’t try it if you haven’t.)
Where did you get this idea? My controller and phone communicate directly through my wifi router, ordinarily. When I’m away, my phone connects through my VPN.
VPD is usually right around 1.0-1.3…
Your VPD is fine. The pH for your nutes is too low. When growing in soil, it should be somewhere between 6 and 7 – 6.5 is ideal.
Do you know how much light the plant’s getting? I think it wants more.
@Venturi …I’ve been using the method of distance from light to top of canopy. I’ve gotten so many suggested from Google and different growers?? It’s been confusing really. 12" - 18" above canopy. More the lower for a bushier plant. Your ideas would be more welcome because everything else is contradictory. Also, how can I boost temps. inside tent or is 68°F - 78°F accurate for veg. w/ lower (not by much) at night for flowering?? I appreciate your time and input and hope I’m not keeping you from work. Lol…I sometimes forget I’m retired at 57 and not everyone else is but I will say you responded quite quickly and carried the conversation most of the day yesterday. Lol…I’m going to lower my grow light. If I’m correct that’s what you’re originally asking or should I increase intensity???
The picture is my current inside data. It’s very cold here in Virginia this morning outside. Probably 42 degrees F°.Notice light intensity?? 60%. It’s preset for seedlings by professional growers who designed the recipe for vivosun.
@Venturi …I just lowered grow light. Had to. My Moonberry Kushrocks seed sprouted out of peat pellet this morning. Has beginning of 3 leaves. It’s about 1" above pellet top.
I’ll be able to post the journey with this girl the whole way through.
This picture is the data after my adjustments to the humidifier (I finally read the manual, my mom suggested that) and lowered the grow light.
For veg, try to keep the temperature ≥ 70°. To boost temp in the tent, increase the light intensity setting and then raise the light so the illumination remains the same.
Reducing the light’s height was a good idea because it increased the illumination on the first plant you showed us. Have you noticed any effect yet?
Which light do you have (make, model, and wattage)? What’s its distance from the top of the larger plant?
@Venturi … I have a Vivosun Aerolight 1000se. 100W…the older, larger plant has become vibrant and I’ve noticed growth progress where two different branches, which were being blocked and competing for sunlight so I lst’d the main stalk by using a coated wire clothes hanger I cut into pieces and bent into little hooks for LST techniques. It’s reaching like crazy towards the light. Damn thing is tougher than I ever expected. By bending it over (I didn’t try SC) it gave the other two branches room for lighting. I promise pictures and an update in two days. Doggone store was out of distilled water so I got a few jugs of purified water.
That’s a good light for 1 plant. You may find it underpowered for 2, although it may suffice if you let them grow tall and thin.
Here’s the PPFD map Vivosun shows for that light at 100% power:
In a tent, the PPFD should be more uniform and a bit higher, but you’re still marginal. I’d want to be able to give each plant at least 600.
Sounds like lowering the light and thereby increasing the PPFD it’s getting helped. What’s the distance of the light from the top of the taller plant?
I recommend that you install an app called Photone on your phone. It enables your phone and its selfie camera to serve as a PPFD meter. Add their LED correction (a $7 option) and then place a 22-weight paper strip over the selfie camera, as their instructions say.
What’s the pH of your tap water? Buying distilled or purified may not be necessary.
@Venturi …Distance from taller plant is 9"…I am more concerned about the seedling. The Wedding Cake OG(taller, and resurrected from the dead) is only an experiment because I know its yield will suffer greatly. It’s 11 weeks old and only 9" tall. The seedling (Moonberry Kushrocks) is my attempt number 3. And the third time is the charm right so if Wedding Cake produces great, if not I’m learning by it. I just downloaded the app you suggested and tomorrow I’ll set that up. Also I joined a community of growers on Discord that my grow journal app, Mary Jane prompted me to join.
The distance from the light to my seedling is probably 14".
What’s the pH of your tap water? Buying distilled or purified may not be necessary if you have a way to measure and adjust the pH.
What soil are you using? Are you using a particular line of nutrients? If so, which ones?
@Venturi… I used 40% in the lower layer of FFOF, and 60% upper FFHF with 6qt. of perlite mixed into the FFOF. I’ll be using the FF Trio of nutes. I having used any nutes yet on my seedling and used that soil mix waiting for the transplant. For the taller plant I used straight FFOF. And the FF Trio of nutes. Testers for ph, ec, ppm All vivosun. Really cheaply made. I’ll invest in a better one next month but for now the soil tester I bought works great. Thanks for all your help.
What’s the pH of your tap water?
@Venturi… whoops I forgot. We have well water and I don’t trust it. I’ve been using straight Deer Park spring water bottled but seen on Google that spring water wasn’t good. It said distilled water was best with purified water next. My ph dropped to 5.5 after I added the veg. stage FF nutes. I then brought it up to 6.5 with Hydroponics brand Ph+.
