Questions about full spectrum lighting&stunted growth

Hello everyone. I have 2 - 600 rspec lights in my 4x8 tent that I was already told it was overkill, I’m an easy sell at the store lol, this will be my 4th indoor grow and I’m always willing to try different techniques.

Questions-

  1. Do I need any other lights (blue red?) or does full spectrum cover all stages of growth

  2. With proper light adjustments for dli etc etc , how high from top of plants should my lights be.

  3. Thank you

Question for stunted growth as I did not want to start another thread.

I started seeds in solo cups and after 2 weeks I transplanted into 5 gallon mesh pots(I know I messed up). I’m into 3 weeks as of today and they only have at most 3 sets of leaves. I know I over watered and that’s a lesson learned for sure as I already knew better lol.

Question

  1. Will I be ok in the long run? Or should I start over?

Fed approx 10 cups each on Monday and plan on feeding again tonight as they are finally dry.

Any help from here forward is greatly appreciated. I’m useing promix with some worm castings mixed in and Gh flora series. I have had pretty good luck with that the last couple grows.

I would stay with the plants that have been started already, and they will make a come back faster than more seeds.

You are better off with too much light than not enough, as you can always dim them. The dual light set up will give a good light spread, and with be much better than a single light in that long tent.

As for light levels at different times throughout the grow. I first read light level in Lux. Then go to HLG’s website, and they have online calculators that will help dial in the light. Read the light in Lux then use the calculator to convert this to PPFD for the light that you have. Then use the PPFD to DLI calculator to get the DLI number. Here is a chart that I made for the Diablo boards using the calculator. I read the Lux at the canopy then use the chart to back into the DLI.

Here is another one for the 288 board, but I only did it for 12 hours. As I only use it for flowering.

Here is the recommended DLI.

Those 2) 600s are perfect for 32 sqft Growmie. You’ll get better coverage over the whole space versus an underpowered light that drops off closer to the ends and corners. What’s the temps and RH in the tent, early seedling and veg growth can stall in low temps and RH. Temps around 78-85 with an RH of 65-75% is ideal :love_you_gesture:

Don’t be so sure. I run 3 HLG 135 panels above each plant. It gives me a PPFD at the canopy of ~1,100 and it produces nice, productive plants.

Low rh- only have about 45 percent at 82 degrees

@Mjm697 I would suggest that you look at the AC Infinity humidifier, while they are still in stock. It comes with a remote sensor, and discharge hose so you can set it outside the tent. I have the small one and only need it at 50% for my 5x5. Actually I think they are only available for preorder now, and promised to ship Feb 10.

That’s ok for flowering and a little low for late veg but needs to come up for seedlings and early veg :love_you_gesture:

I use 600r, 320r, 350r, and a blackbird for these girls… i had 13 plants under there…

Reference this chart during your grow based on stage they are in.
Your current RH is way way way low.

I made my own humidifier using parts from house of hydro
Way better than most off the shelf humidifiers and easy to maintain. You want a 5 gallon reservoir or a 10 gallon or a 32 gallon reservoir that’s your choice. 5 gallon bucket with lid or a trash can with lid.
I’ve been through those off the shelf units and they are a pain and if you live near Akron Oh I have 3 for sale lol. Cheap

I run 2 tents and are 4.5’x8’x7’ and this set up along with the humidity controller when dialed in runs on its own no worries other than adding water (use RO or distilled because tap has calcium and will deposit white dust all over including your extraction fan/filter.

This is my set up using the 5 disc model and an inkbird controller and a used fan from computer and used brick that had correct power specs to power the fan. They also sell fan kits too and humidity controller.

I also run 2 HLG 600 lights in one of the tents and they work great.
As far as height above the plants it’s all about what power your at (dimmer switch) and what stage they are in and figuring out best height above plants. I also had to modify the hanging set up that it came with 5 years ago to gain headroom as the plants grew tall as stock hangers wasted height.
As far as supplemental lighting I added some solacure UVA&B bulbs for middle of day and some far red Therabulbs for sunrise/sunset

All stuff I mentioned is somewhere in my journals here

Hope this help
Enjoy the day

I love to build my own stuff also, but for $49 this is by far the best humidifier that I have used growing. The remote sensor really works. And makes it much better being outside the tent.

I am sure you will be very happy with it. I looked at the T7 also, and thought that the larger reservoir maybe needed. But the T3 has worked just fine, and for 1/3 the price. That’s the thing you never know until you try something. I could very well be saying damn I wish I ordered the T7.

I understand. My flower room is a 12x8 and i like the larger reservoir. I have one in my veg room that holds 5 gal. Its just nice to not have to refill it everyday.

Whoa, you should be able to get a couple ounces out of that. The T7 is definitely needed for that area. Just one tip, don’t let the discharge hose form a U shape. The trapped water will stop the humidity stream. Keep the hose on a grade and all is good.

I get that but for a 4x8 tent the tank is way to small. It’s one of those things that he will end up buying something else.
Maybe the $149 model that holds almost 4 gallons but again the one I have I can repair easily.
I’m not dissing the option nor AC infinity just that I feel the $49 model isn’t the best option for the circumstances

For me it is the remote sensor that makes it so good. I only need a humidifier during early veg. Just set the tent’s exhaust fans to only run once every few hours. Set the humidifier for 75%, and that is exactly what it holds. If you want to drop it to 60% no problem just set it for that. No more overshooting humidity with an unregulated humidifier or domes. Of course I know one can add humidistats or controllers to control humidity levels. Just saying you get all of this in one product for a good price. It is a humidifier designed for growers.

Yea I read up on it and it is a nice one for sure!
Seems like they did it right!

Thanks for doing some follow up research and the reply.
I like to run RO water in the humidifiers for a maintenance free and clean humidifier. But I don’t need 5-10 gallons a day either, just 1 or 2, and that includes the little drugstore type in the living room.
