Question for Vape Cart Buyers

What is the difference between the dispensary carts that sell for $65 versus those that sell for $35? Marketing BS? Quality of the oil? The way the concentrate is processed?

That would be my guess. Quality of product used to make the oil being #1 in my books.
Did it pass testing as flower originally or was it sprayed for bugs and mold first and this was the only way they could sell it.
Is it new hype strains or old tried and true varieties that have been around for a while.

That will make a difference too.
Did it come from an alc extraction , bho , live rosin ?
All are factors in the pricing.
Carts usually go for 45ish Can. here at the rez outlets.
They’re more at the gov dispos.
I’m sure there’s some marketing in there too
but quality of the starting product would be my biggest concern.
I have found that the cheaper ones have a tendency to make me cough hard.
Less so with the more expensive ones but still happens occasionally.
I’m only an occasional vaper tho. Still like my flower in a j or dry herb vape.

I wanna know what 2 grams means on a cart package
I still haven’t stepped into a Dispo so I have to learn from y’all :green_heart::metal:t2:

Good question. In Michigan I get them for $6 per 1 gram cart from a dispensary, tested the whole bit. It tastes and works as good as a $40 cart in other states.

1 gram of what?
That’s where I’m lost, it’s a liquid :thinking::green_heart::metal:t2:

One gram of liquid?

Odd but Ok :+1:t2::green_heart::metal:t2:

I got this from Grok (AI.)

The weight of propylene glycol per milliliter is approximately 1.036 grams. This value can vary slightly depending on the temperature and purity of the propylene glycol, but at room temperature (around 25°C or 77°F), this is a commonly cited density.

So effectively, about 1 gram per ml, which would make sense.

The single biggest issue I have with big box dispensaries is that almost none of the carts are organized by extraction techniques.

This is one of the most important factors of I know HOW it was extracted, the factors of quality are weighed, as well as terpene content.

I prefer BHO, for me out of the above processes, it has the highest terpene content if processed with care.

I don’t know that I’ve seen BHO extractions in commercial carts. Do they exist? If not, then how would you rack-and-stack the other extraction methods?

Some budtenders understand the differences, but very few actually do, or read the package to distinguish the difference.

Some carts are labeled how they were extracted, others are not.
Which creates a quality confusion.

In my experience prices vary wildly from brand to brand but the quality not so much I buy $40 carts that are better than or just as good as some of the $60 carts I’ve bought my advice find a brand you like in the price range you feel comfortable with and dont be afraid to experiment with a few different brands in that range

I think it was $9 a cart at the place I went, and higher quality $6 more.
But no distinguishing difference how they were extracted, but notable quality differences with out knowing which was which.

This is the issue.

It’s a bit difficult for me to “try” and go back for more. I’m in and illegal state and need to travel hours to a dispensary. I tend to buy in bulk so I don’t have to go back for months, which is why I’ve asked for input.

Different buds yeild different amounts but on average one gram of high quality oil takes about 10-20 grams of bud to produce

I weighed my plant material out, and put in 28g of flower, my return was between 12-15 grams I would say on average on the better end.

Some plants don’t have the yield, but does have potency, or more terpene content.

When you get a fire plant, you get both, but require flowers only run… no trim.

I’ve seen “shatter” at shops. The same as BHO?

That product is a splash and go, in a solid tube, and then dumped into the glass dish or parchment paper.

This creates that thin product. It’s a marketing thing in my opinion. Terpene content is slightly less, because it’s all left to evaporate out in the open.
But people want what they want regardless if it makes sense or not. Lol.

Edit:
Yes it is a BHO product. I overlooked that part.
Might be able to get the same result with alcohol extract though.

I’d avoid it then.

I don’t know a whole lot about this stuff, but I have compared live resin and cured resin and prefer cured resin.
