You can simply wrap black trash bags around them too or paint them black. Inside of buckets must have zero light or you WILL have pythium and algae. I’ve already had to address algae in my res, but I wasn’t using a lid, got them now and after a shot of peroxide and hydroguard, they are crystal clear now. You may can give them some peroxide in their water at 5 ml per gallon.

In hydro and coco, as well as Promix, ph is 5.5-6.5, I run 5.7-6.2. In soil, 6.3-6.6 is good.

I used sourthern ag seems to work good.. temps in the room are 81.7 degrees so buckets should be ok

You can mix lower as ph will climb as water sits or is used. Go in at 5.6 or real close and let the ph drift up thru the range, it helps them absorb minerals, some of which have differing optimal PH for absorption.

Temps really need to be at 75 or lower to help prevent algae growth. I have both res in the lung room which I’m keeping at 70-72 just for that purpose.

When fresh change I aim for 5.5 and let it go, by the end of the week she drifted to about 6.3 but my nutrients are different than what you use but I would think same concept. Any case they all looking good.

I’ve been checking mine everyday, it creeps up about .2 a day so far. I top off and add more peroxide every 3 days, hydroguard once a week at clean and refill time. I have some Revitalize and looking at it, it’s the same strain of bacillus as HG, but it’s 98% where HG is like 0.038 %, I may try it at small dose, it’s beneficial bacteria, wouldn’t think you could hurt them with it…. I’ll definitely dilute it though. It was a third of the cost of HG. Have some Southern Ag products coming too…..

Idk if its the sea kelp and sweet candy or what.. smell went away in a day tho
