The one video he pressure cooks the popcorn at 5 psi is that what you do also?

Well i got a new 4lb bag and i am going to try to grow shrooms again. I got a all in one bag this time. Maybe that will make the difference.

No way everything you run through a pressure cooker is supposed to be at 15psi so that everything you run in there is sterilized for a set period of time. Grain is different from other applications you would run through it like making liquid culture for example typically takes only 15-20 minutes agar typically runs around 30 minutes depending on which recipe you choose to run. But as a standard benchmark 15 psi is the norm!!!

If you are trying to hydrate the corn then that is a totally different situation I was speaking of sterilization of the popcorn once jarred up!!

Yea the initial stuff. Then in the jar 90 min at 15psi I believe. When you sterilize everything in the jar using the canner do you use the inoculation lid or a piece of tinfoil? Trying to picture how the moisture is going to stay out of the jars if the lids are not covered. I have an injection port sealed with silicone on one side and a stick on filter patch on the other.

A piece of tin foil over the top and your good to go. Just remember that you want to set your time after you reach the 15psi mark and you’ll be good to go

I use an Instapot that doesn’t start the timer until 15psi is achieved. I have a 6 quart model that fits four 12 ounce jars perfectly. I sterilize grain jars for 75 minutes and have never had a problem with contamination in jars.

Yes, don’t forget the foil. If no foil covering it will leak additional moisture into your jar. Grains (or bulk) that are too wet won’t colonize.

If you have an old school one like me, you wouldn’t start your timer until the top is hissing, and rattling away. Then you can turn it down.

Hey my bad I could have saved some hassle if I checked up more often! It’s hard when it’s one big thread. If you have any specific questions or anything feel free to PM me.

Also without further Ado popped my tubs open to show a buddy yesterday and we have officially entered Pin Town! And yes, that was supposed to be a Guy Fiery thing.

Costa Rica from clone put in tub 1/17

The b+ tubs are the same. So far no contams. Here’s a pic of the Colombian Rust started from multi spore syringe. These are not far behind, bit will be less uniform per tub if my thinking is correct.

@MidwestGuy hey bro can you help me out. I have a question about lighting. I have my grow tent with 345 true watts from the wall led lights. I want to skip a season to grow mushrooms. My question is about lighting I know I have way to much direct light for mushrooms. Can I shut two of my lights down and invert the other so the light is bouncing off the top of the tent this way the mushrooms are not in direct light.

Mushrooms need very little light. A 60 watt light bulb is sufficient. Light does not help mushrooms grow. The only thing light does for mushrooms is tell them which way to grow.

Shrooms don’t need any light from colonization to fruit. It’s a topic that still needs a lot of research done but from my understanding the kelvin rating is the most important number to take into consideration as shrooms would be most receptive to a frequency mimicking the sun. I run two 10w led floodlights for coverage on my fruiting tubs. They are daylight 7000k which has seemed to work good. The exact nature of why light benefits mycelium growth and fruiting is still pretty ambiguous. Mushrooms do grow outdoors, and are in contact with the sun many times at all stages to varying degrees and have thrived. Replicating something like that indoors leads to an optimized pin set imo.

Will do thank you! I’m actually leaving on the 1st to backpack around Argentina for 3 weeks. Long story I really have the worst timing :joy::sob:

Roomies gonna tend to the harvesting while I’m gone as best he can. Is what it is but I’m going to post the progress photos the day I leave and then the roomie might send some. This is going to put my “set and forget” experiment to the test :pray::pray:

I found this study on the effects of light on oyster mycelium. Not cubensis but still insightful.
