Psilocybin Adventures

Ahhh okay I was wondering what you meant by that the other day when you posted it. Do you find that those work well or do they choke out the mycelium growth never seen or heard of that Tek before but always learning something new growing these things

That’s good looking ryzo growth there for sure what strain is that one

Ask me again over the next week or so.

Seems to be working so far, but this is my first attempt so we’ll see how it goes. I’ll update in the thread here. ā€œHopingā€ to see some pinning within the next few days to a week?

Started with the ā€œUncle Ben’s Tekā€ from spore syringe. One bag showed excellent colonization and I went S2B with Coco (hydrated with boiling water). 2:1 ratio of Coir to colonized rice.

New to all of this so I just did as much reading as I could and combined some strategies that I felt could work well for me.

Much of the ryzo seems to be ā€œreachingā€ which as I understand is a great sign.

B+ Portobello

Always wanted to grow portobello mushrooms. I’ve seen a few kits online, but this should be awesome to watch. Thanks CygnusX1!

The b+ strain I got from mushrooms dot com is very aggressive! I had good luck with one of the uncle Ben rice bags I tried with a liquid culture that I made but I just fruited it in the bag dried out fast though had to really pay attention to the micro climate to get any sort of second flush. I may have put just a little bit more L. C. in the bag than I should’ve!! LOL. Good luck with the portobellos wink wink nudge nudge!!

If you want to try to make a liquid culture like I did which was super simple next fully colonized jar you have get yourself a pint jar of sterilized water which is nothing more than tap water put in a pressure cooker for 30 minutes at 15 psi fill a 10 cc syringe up shoot it into the jar and just extract out the water and put it back in the pint jar. There’s all kinds of recipes you can use for nutrition to keep the culture fed. Corn syrup is one honey is what I used. You’re going to be putting the jar you make the culture out of to substrate though to reduce risk of contamination

Another good tip I got from mycology matters on you tube is to cover your tub with plastic for a week or so and it helps trap the CO2 in there which helps speed everything up a bit then pull it off and give it another week or so depending on what it looks like and then put it into fruiting conditions and good to go you can put a casing layer on from there to get an even better more consistent pin set.

I’ve got about 1.5 syringes left presently, but yes, already looking into cloning, agar, etc…

Is the plastic you’re referring to like Saran wrap or do you mean what I’ve seen referred to as ā€œbubble wrap tekā€?

Right now I’m leaving the lid on this one just cracked and keeping a close eye on humidity in there. I’m sure there will be more experimentation in the future since I never leave well enough alone, but the more I dig the more I find the best strategy is to just let nature do its thing with minimal intervention (and an abundance of patience) unless I see something starting to go sideways or total lack of progress / complete stall.

This tub only went S2B about 5 days ago now so I’m pretty happy with what I see so far.

Yeah that’s great let it do it’s thing but I just took a piece of the bag I lined my tub with and put it over the top

You can use foil too but I’m not a fan of that Tek

The cloning and agar are really what the next level of this hobby are all about I’m currently doing both and it’s a whole nother level of honing your skills and really paying attention to the details which is what makes it all that much more fun and interesting to see where you can get the genetics to go

2nd flush=bigger but slimmer harvest

Just pulled the trigger on a new order from mushrooms dot com. AA+albino, corumba, purple mystics, P.E. reverted, and mazatapec plus another freebie I have to check out. But total order (6 syringes)+ shipping was $88 how can you go wrong!!!

You can’t that’s why I tried doing this. It well worth the money I put into it which really is not much. That is a nice pile you got there. What strain is that?

The last pic I posted was of some b+ I did with L. C. Have had really good harvest’s with them so far just wanted to try something new.

We have pins!

Right on. Looks good how often are you fanning the tub they’re in? Still thinking that those red balls are blocking pinning spots? I guess you’ll find out soon enough you should hopefully be picking full on fruits in no time now!! Did you end up getting a dehydrator?

Looking back at the picture of the full tub I don’t see any F. A. E. Holes in your tub anywhere unless I’m missing something?

Its a 6qt ā€œshoeboxā€ tub. Its pretty dry here right now so at this point I’m misting the walls and lid a few times a day (whenever they look like they are starting to dry up).

Not sure if I’ll lose some real estate from the Orbeez or if they’ll just push around them but we’ll see I suppose. In the end I’d prefer a lighter harvest to no harvest at this point so I figured its worth a shot and I’ll adjust as I learn moving forward. :sunglasses:

There are a bunch in there, but its also not wall to wall Orbeez over the whole sub.

Not sure what they’ll do when its time to rehydrate the tub for a second flush (if they’ll stay in place vs floating away, lol) but we’ll see.

No FAE holes, the lid is cracked (aka sitting loosely on the tub as opposed to clicked down in position). Fanning any time it needs the walls misted.

I have a food dehydrator that I’ve had for several years for other purposes (drying hot peppers, etc, etc…) and plant to use that as they get harvested.
