Psilocybin Adventures

Went to bulk today and thought I’d share the steps.

Wipe everything (tabletop, tubs, liners) with 70% iso alcohol. 90% iso evaporates too fast to get the job done.

Place liners in tubs and tape the sides to the tub.

I used a half Boomr Bag for each 15 quart tub. Pour it in, break up any clumps, and spread bulk evenly.

Two jars per tub.

Break up contents of colonized jars and spread evenly. Some growers layer in their micellum. I just mix it up evenly.

After mixing. I also spray the mix a few times with RO water. You have to be careful. Too much moisture will prevent colonization. Too little moisture and you’ll get a disappointing first flush.

Boomr Bags have a micropore patch and lose moisture over time. My bag had been sitting for 3 weeks and was not at field capacity wetness. Substrates are at field capacity when you can get a few drops of water by squeezing a handful of substrate. If you have to add water, then shoot for field capacity.

I put a sheet of wax paper over my spawn to help moisture retention.

Place lids.

Seedling heater mat on the shelf on which I place the tubs.

The seedling mat can get too hot for direct contact with the tubs. I fold a big towel 4 times and set it between the mat and the tubs as a heat buffer. It keeps the temps in the mid-70’s.

Tubs in the martha tent. Two 15 qt tubs fit snugly on 1 shelf in a martha tent.

I use a humidifier in the bottom of the martha tent to keep the humidity in the 90’s. I use a small Honeywell HEV-320B wicking humidifier. It’s plenty strong to get the job done.

An Inkbird humidity controller in the tent. I keep humidity set at 91%.

I’m expecting to be able to fruit these after they colonize for 2 weeks. I won’t touch them again until I take the lids off for fruiting.
