Should i cut off the lower most small branches along with the lower fan leaves?
Have you done any training with the plant? If not I would bend the top branches over first and let the lowers catch up for an even canopy.
Ive only trained the lowest branches out from the main stem to widen out the plant
Autos are picky. I’ve had some react positive to topping and trimming but others they appeared to not like anything but LST. I also pull them over and tie them off. The tops will head back up by the next day. Good luck.
I grow photos now, but my first auto I did LST just because of their nature and how finicky they are. If it were me, I’d leave them on and take your top main branch and bend it pretty much 90° and tie it down. It takes away the apical dominance and the rest of the branches will follow. The goal is an even canopy.
I topped it when it had 5 nodes and its now got 2 main stalks, for an auto it handled the stress of it really well
I personally dont really trim an auto much till after stretch. I like to see what actually takes off and can be a producer. When it is done is when I cull the inside and bottom. Just me. A photo I will prune soft or hard all the way. Depending in how much veg I want. Take 1, get 2. Can veg a photo like crazy with pruning.
But storm is also right some strains don’t do well with cutting
You definitely don’t want to cut any thing right now. these are just barely getting started. I am like @Storm I leave every thing alone till my third week of flower. Then I go into attack mode ![]()
As for topping, training or what ever. That is up to you. Personally. I have found you can do any thing to an auto that you can to a photos. Other than cloning. I avoid that subject now. More or less. Mine like being super cropped and topped. The plants I have accidentally broke a main branch have turned out to be some of my biggest plants.
If you are new to growing or just atios. This is my advise. Forget every thing you have read or heard. And just try stuff with these that you are interested in. I started growing with autos. And read all the things you are not supposed to do to them. I tried every thing I could find not to do. And learned for me. All that info was wrong. It may effect one here or there a little. But I have topped plants more than 7 or 8 times. Topped, Fimmed, Super cropped. Transplanted rough. It is a little harder to do in coco. But never any issues. A lot of my grows are in here. but I do have a journal in my pc for every one. I am going to do a journal in here for my next grow. It will be all autos. I have to see when this grow will be out before I can drop seeds though ![]()
The whole idea of growing is to have fun… And learn along the way. I wish I was new again. Every thing was a lot more exciting. You are off to a good start though ![]()
