Popping my cherry…

Hello;

Long time user, first time grower.

Ohio recently listened to us peasants and overhauled their archaic code. Home grow is now legal and I am looking to expand my skill set.

I purchased feminized Gold Leaf, AK-47, White Widow, Bubble Gum, and Do-si-Dos from ILGM and was given some Pakistani Kush seeds.

I recently did my germination via placing (3 each) them in water for 48hrs and then into an organic seedling mix upon poking out. Germination was a great success IMO.

They are currently under three full spectrum LED lights that are adjustable and set to the seedling setting. The lights are 30W each and @20” above the clear plastic lid which covers it. There are two ports in the top of the seedling tray which I have closed currently. The tray is on top of a seedling warming blanket I intend to remove once >50% sprout.

I have an AC infinity 4’x8’x80” cloud lab 894 tent ordered, as well AC Infinity air filtration 6” pro kit, Bloom+ LED BP 400W light, (2) 9” fans, and backdraft dampers.

I will be growing in soil and am flying blind on my next steps. I’m very excited about this endeavor however my giddiness feels like it is getting the best of me as my motions feel like they are ahead of my knowledge.

The more I read the more overwhelmed I feel. I am trying to soak in as much info as I can from the wonderful forums and videos/instructions via ILGM. The individuals on this website seem like they truly care about furthering the cause and baseline knowledge of the members.

I would love to get insight, guidance, and warnings about how to proceed on a safe route for a newbie grower looking to maximize his grow while staying in my realm.

Looking for a mentor to look up to and admire. Then in a few months when I cheef up that first fatty think about those that brought me to that point and thank my lucky angels I am alive and well at this glorious moment in history.

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

:hugs:

Welcome to the tomato club haha
Once you decide on how you want to grow…
Organic or chemical as they are not the same will better align you to what works best for your style
They are similar in environment but differ in some aspects.
I too was overwhelmed when I started and took me some time to filter out the noise regarding what was important when growing organically they have similarities but not all things align with chemical grows.
It can be daunting.

Welcome aboard. As just mentioned choose soil grow style. I grew chemical for years. Went to living soil couple of years back. Water only really. A little smaller. A LOT easier. Tried rdwc. Work to me. The no mix just top dress and water fits my laziness. The 400w light you bought will be fine if its the new 1 with samsung 301b diodes. Not 5x5 coverage. A white lie…grin. more like 4x4 veg 3x3 good flower. Slow down a bit and consider grow style before more purchases. Living soil…no ph adjust…tds check. No calmag supplement unless foliar.
I am super simple and try to suggest the simplest and easiest ways to grow your first plants. If have photo seeds i highly recommend those be your first. Much more room to F up. Just a few thoughts.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Much needed @Skydiver

Organic as much as possible if not all the way.

I have a bin of red wiggler worms and their compost in my garage. I was contemplating doing a few of my plants with that.

Welcome to the forum @Newb2this There’s plenty of knowledge here.
A lot of knowledge and myth can also be found on YouTube so just beware, as there are charlatans on every corner.
A couple of guys they post informative videos are Bruce Bugbee and Harley Smith.

Here’s a few of the latest videos I’ve found as things evolve more information comes to light with Dr. Bugbee

Something to look at if you haven’t thought about Hydroponics Harley Smith has worked with various colleges and some of the largest greenhouse hydroponic in Holland.

Also ILGM has grow guided that you may have already found if your purchase seeds here.

Thanks for the welcome @Storm

Misinformation is abundant in the LED full spectrum world it appears! I’ve gained an understanding everything is overstated in that area.

My plan had been to test this light (which has Samsung 2835 diodes) early and if I like it but one more for when the babes start growing.

I like the idea of simple as I have NO experience with fertilizers, macro or micro nutes, etc.

Just dug this up in this plants bag.

Soil has been reused over 2 years. I threw the worms in on first build of this soil. They still live. All organic in this tent.

1 fan. 1 exhaust fan. 1 rh/temp meter. 1 10.00 walmart analog timer. That is it. High end lights. 5x5I also suggest as new grower to get in the “ranges” of environment. Dont try for perfection. It is a weed. It has a wide range there.

Goals!

Easy goals. I go in once a day to loo k or water. Then back to schooling folks in Battlefield…lmao. setting the goals too far out to start kills new growers confidence. FACT.

I just want to welcome you to home of happy cannafarmers. I think that you have already received sage advice. I am also a relative noobie with a living soil grow. I learned fairly early that much of the advice pertaining to fertilization and watering is geared for coir on the internet. With a living soil, many of the nutes are tied up in the organic matter. Your job is to provide and support the microflora and fauna that releases the nutes. I follow a program that entails “cooking the soil” prior to potting the pot. Once things get rolling, I occasionally augment with organic supplements…heck…sometimes I even use limited liquid immediately available nutes.

You bet @Newb2this
I’d have to say they are really green. What his your nutrient line and feeding schedule look like? You should be backing off the Nitrogen and using more Potassium at this point.

My pics. Organic no extra N. Just green assed grow. Flower ammendments only pk heavy. Silica. Water. Ammendments are the top dress cycle for organic grows. Actually digging it. Very very frosty sugar leaves giving me confidence on some good sticky.
