I use them too but i did it once in the 2 inch and rhey fid great and even with the big baskets Before using nets i had to put 15lb weights on to keep them from flipping

I have a question for a friend that I got hooked but he went DWC ILO soil or Coco and I cannot help. He wants to know if you monitor the O2 like we do other things like PPFD or PPMS etc.. Do you all monitor the oxygen levels? Or are the stones/pumps set up for a sized system?

I don’t, nor do I know of anyone who does. My #1 reason for running air lines is to prevent stagnation (and all of the nastiness that stagnant water invites).
Yes, the amount of oxygen has to be monitored, too much air can cause a pocket and root rot or other root problems, not enough air will choke the plant to death.
Also an air pump will slowly push warmer air into your water heating up the water lowering oxygen also.
