What are the potential issues w distilled h2o? Forgive my ignorance. What is RO Water? Thanks in advance
Distilled water is negatively charged, no micro nutrients, no minerals, etc. RO is nice because it lacks chlorine and chloramines, but is finicky with ph swings. Water science is a huge player when plants exhibit deficiencies and water must be correct before assuming it is nutrient lock out ir excessive nutrients. I strongly urge you to read up on pH, ec, tds, and ppm of water for cannabis. I’m betting your issues are water related not nutrient related.
Sorry if my spelling is off I’n at a concert lol with a dim screen.
Is soft water ok for watering seedlings? I plan to add nottients after transplant. Thanks. Appreciate the advise!
I use water from the tap most things I’ve read say tap water is fine in most cases
Soft water contains very little calcium, and will need a cal-mag supplement.
For seedlings up to fourteen days from seed do not give them any nutrients just pH’d water and very little too. It is extremely important to pH your water to the type of soil you are using. Coco coir likes to have a pH range of 5.8-6.2 and For “soil” like to have a pH of 6.2-6.8. Those are the ranges I personally use based off of the nutrients and soil I use.
Again I strongly suggest you do a little reading/research, growing is easy and fun and it can also be difficult and stressful, you pick that path. Plants can and will exhibit issues at any stage of growth and knowing how to react correctly and methodically is the key for keeping them healthy. Everyday they cost money and time (just like kids lol) Robert has a great book here called the growing bible and it is free to download, you should get it and have yourself a read, it’s the bible for a reason. Happy grows growmie!
Go to Ebay you can get 1.5 cubic fox farms ocean forest or Happy Frog by Fox farms around 28.00 30 .00 free shipping Its works great wont use nothing else.
alright yall im gonna update. im still using distilled water only. 3 days ago i transplanted into clear plastic cup. shes growing. i took some root pictures. i transplanted into the fox farm happy frog soil with a super healthy layer of mycorrhizae. her leaves are still turning though. should i still be concerned? nutes? thanks everyone.
I feel blessed 15.86 at my local hydro store. I do buy 8 bags at a time…
I wouldn’t focus on old growth now that you have “corrected” your problem. Focus on brand new growth and If you continue to see the same results there is still an issue. Or it will just continue to get better with the correction. The older growth will not come back, especially if there is nute burn involved. Your roots look happy and healthy, I expect her to bounce back 100% after 10 days. If you can, use a dark cup so the roots are not exposed to light. ![]()
well yall… woke up and decided to update. i really like the way shes reaching to the light. i hope thats good. i still have her in the clear cup and pushed down in the soil. great root growth. still using distilled water. by the end of the week i should have the nutes i ordered from ILGM. should i follow in full dose or half dose? continue using distilled water to feed or RO? could i use the distilled water and just re-ph it? thanks for all advice.
Yellow tips tends to be nutrients burning, curly leaves high nitrogen. So you may want to back off nutrients.
the little hairs are starting to turn brown. is that good or bad?
Bad if it’s not the end of flower. I’m not a professional but that could be high nutes or improper ph (lockout). Are you measuring ppms (runoff) and water ph?
man… thx so much for replying. its hell trying to get a friggin response here. had to buy 10 seeds just to get one!! im that much money in a daggum hole and finally had one grow and just problem after problem! ilgm either should assist new growers or change up the website wording. huge mislead!! it takes WAYYYY more then light… love… blah blah. ive fought so hard to get here! NO PLANT IS A BEGINNER PLANT. NONE. this is what needs to be said instead. i have no idea how to do that. since january this has been a problem. ive had to interrupt other ppls posts… make 2 of my own… AND STILL IN THE MUTHA FRIGGIN DARK ILGM!
@cthorhaug
I noticed a couple things right off the bat. Your light is not very powerful and you may want to upgrade if you have money. Also, roots are very susceptible to light damage, therefore, those clear cups are not a good idea unless you put a red solo cup on the outside.
Also bro, I was just reading through some of the earlier posts. The right soil is the most important to start with. Don’t even germinate anything without having the proper soil. I’d use something like Happy Frog or CocoLoco.
bro… im wayyy past all that now. i figured that out too. im 8 days into flowering.
@cthorhaug
I see what you are saying but let’s get past ILGM and figure out how to make your next grow super successful. The people on this forum have a wealth of knowledge at your disposal. I’m not sure how big that plant you have is but my guess is pretty damn small. I’d be starting some other seeds while asking ILGM for replacements too. They’ve always been great about that for everyone. If you want to start there, I can help.
