Please help with TMV

Hi Guys

After days of diagnosing, I fear I might have TMV and I’m about 80% sure so far.

I don’t want to get into that details yet but want to ask if anyone ever got this and was able to grow in that same location successfully again, after doing a proper cleanse?

Any further attempt to grow in that space will result in the same virus I can only assume you are growing in soil. Best guess.

help us help you. Never just post. My plants have this disease; What do I do?

Post. How you grow; What type soil; PH of soil; What fertilizer? Etc, Etc. This will allow us to make an informed decision, as opposed to a guess.

I had Tobacco Mosaic Virus in a plant. I was growing 6-8 plants in soil at that time, and noticed one with the TMV. I didn’t do anything special. I let her finish out, and she gave me nice buds! After harvest, I got rid of the soil from that plant and through out the pot. Never had TMV again.

After reading about it, I learned it’s more on YOU as the grower to clean your hands before you go into the grow area and touch ANYTHING. Don’t smoke around them either.

Now, I clean my hands every time I go into my grow room. And I’ve learned to take care of my girls in my grow room before I go outside to do anything in my veggie garden.

Thanks Latewood, but my question wasn’t to get someone to check my system and diagnose it, my system isn’t perfect, but its been producing okay for the last few months and nothing is changed in it. Same clones, same lighting, same ventilation, new soil-less medium every cycle as usual, very clean set-up, etc…nothing was changed.

I just merely need to know if anyone ever grew in the same location again after getting this? (obviously after the heavy clean-up.)

OK. I haven’t. All I can recommend is to do a test grow and see what happens. If I had TMV in my grow space; I would probably move it to another new sterile location. However; If you plan in using the same system, then moving would be a waste of time.

Lyla, No one can guarantee continued growing in the space/system will be safe, and you will not know for sure until you give it a shot. Sorry I cannot give you any more positive of an outlook. :slight_smile:

Good Luck and [lease share your findings with us. This could be real helpful information to a future grower.

Thanks for the replys.

Cleaned the area but I used all the same pots, fans, etc…Growing a batch of Cheese now and I use a 400mg tab of Asprin in a 5lt water every 2 weeks which caused the plants to show no symptoms of TMV throughout its 3 week veg under 400w MH. They were beautifully green all the way through. Feeding was Biogrow and the medium is peatmoss, vermiculite mix, PH’ed to 6.4.

As soon as I flipped to 12/12, I stopped feeding the Asprin and the plants done their initial stretch. 2 weeks after the flip I started seeing some symptoms. Most of the leaves directly under the light have gradually turned yellow with brown dry spots while the leaves around the perimeter was unaffected and still healthy green.

They are in week 5 now and every few days I’m removing a couple of yellow random leaves (from the top of the plants) but the buds seem to be unaffected. Will know in a few weeks if the weight will be heavily affected by this.

@Lyla any updates?
