Please help. Im about ready to give up on this whole thing

@fano_man can you explain to me “water only days”. I have heard that given as instructions before but then also been told to follow directions on the bottle. It’s my first grow so naturally I’m confused  I’m using FFOF soil with FFtrio+cal mag and the directions for FF say can feed twice a week, I’m currently watering about twice a week not leaving me any “only water” days in a week. I just gave them their first feeding yesterday at 2tsp cal mag and 1/2 strength FFtrio per gallon, each pot got 1/2 gallon. So when ready for more liquids do I only water, then alternate each time. (I haven’t yet noticed any burn so was intending on increasing to full strength, unless burn shows itself b4 then) I’ll tag you in my journal so you can look in and see what I’ve been doing until now. Thanks in advance for response.

@Docnraq , You want water only days with fox farm nutes because those salts will build up pretty quickly. Make sure you’re monitoring your runoff ppm.

So can someone with experience with both give me a good break down of ocean forest vs happy frog? I have heard good and bad about each individually but not really a comparison of the 2.

Thank you very much everyone who has been helping thus far. I’m soaking it all up.

Stay the same and follow the flushing schedule. Eventually some time in flower they’ll demand more waterings then you’ll add water only days

Happy frog is just a milder soil compared to ocean forest so it’s safe for seedlings. Ocean forest can burn the seedlings. Some do ocean forest on the bottom of the pot and happy frog in the top.

In a week when the plants get established…
1 day food cal mag water
Next watering [WHEN NESSECARY] no alotted time limit wait for dry soil to water
Calmag water
Next watering [when necessary] only water just to help use up and use up the stuff left from the 2 other waterings with nutes

Repeat thos till you get to flower and you will probably have another watering needed in between to be
Food cal mag
Cal mag water
Food cal mag
Cal mag water
And do scheduled flushes according to fox farm scheduel
I’ve used all fox farms except coco
Light warrior ocean forest strawberry feild happy frog… happy frog with 33% added perlite is my preference is has microbes and is not to hot…m ocean forest has the tendency to be hot and burn young plants for that reason not good for brand new growers… it could make your head spin like …I only added water…wtf

Copy that! I have a meter, can you tell me anything about what numbers I am wanting to see? Maybe not a full on explanation of PPM just info on desired range. Appreciate your help

@Docnraq This is is a basic guide. Some plants want more, some less.

  • Seedlings: 100-250 (nutrients aren’t needed here, hence there’s not a lot of particles needed)

  • First Half of Vegging Cycle: 300-400 (this is usually after you transplant, which still doesn’t require many nutrients)

  • Second Half of Vegging: 450-700 (you’ll start giving your plants more nutrients at this stage)

  • First Half of Flowering: 750-950 (your plants will be eating more as they grow, so they’ll be taking in more nutrients)

  • Second Half of Flowering: 1000-1600 (this is when your plant’s eating the most, especially if you give it additives)

  • End of Flower, Entering Harvest: As close to 0 as possible (this is when you’ll be flushing your plants, so you don’t want there to be a lot of particles leftover)
