Plants too small..again

The girls are in 7 gal pots with fresh Build a Soil 3.0 and I’m using an HLG Scorpion Diablo. My 5x5 tent stays a constant 74°- 80° and the RH is between 55% - 65%. They are nice and green with no sign of pest or any type of deficiencies. They are drinking about a half gallon of water every other day, the light is turned to about 400w and is about 24 inches above the canopy. They are in their 8th week of veg and are only 12 - 13 inches tall.
This is my 7th or 8th grow and its always the same thing. I only use seeds from well known breeders like Barneys Farm and Humboldt Seed Organization and always end up with small plants that never yield more than 2 oz per plant if I’m lucky. I’ve tried different lights, nutes, medium and anything else I can think of and still no luck so if my environment and equipment is up to par then I’m obviously doing somethung wrong…any ideas.

You need about double the light you are putting out currently in that space.

I would also suggest selecting photoperiod plants with ‘large’ yields. Consider running soilless like coco and Jack’s as well.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try but my last run was in a 4x4 with the same light on full at 650w and it was 4 Blue Dream plants that yielded about 7 oz total and the tallest plant was around 14 inches after the stretch. My first couple of grows were in coco but it’s been a year or two since I’ve tried that so it couldn’t hurt.

Running a 3x4 tent with 3 mediocre Mars Hydro lights. 435 watts.
1 SP-150 and 2-TS-1000
Photo period plants in Coco and using Jacks 321.
I have grown 2 plants and let veg about 6 weeks.
I have grown 4 plants and let veg about 4 to 5 weeks.
I harvest a pound (dry) or just over each run.

Is this per 7 gal container or in total . If total how many plants?

That’s a half gallon per plant, I have 4 plants so 2 gallons total every other day. I ran a MarsHydro TSW2000 in a 3x3 with 4 Bubba Kush in coco with Advanced Nutrients last year and had the same issue. I think I ended up with around 6oz on that one

Are these always auto flowers?
It very well could be be operator error and could be hard to pin point.
If you’ve had several grows and tried different things with same results with autoflowers your not alone.
Many struggle with them even though they are "supposed to be easier " they are not for everyone and harder for in my opinion…

With photos you control when they flower so you got more time to let them grow. Lower light intensity with more time in veg and they will get taller in time…

Can we see a picture of your setup?

Are you running an exhaust fan?

How about some pics of your plants as well?

We love porn pics of plants. Do u water to run off? That doesn’t seem to be much water.

These are photos, and I almost always grow photos but I have done auto with the same problems. I always veg them for at least 6 weeks, usually 8

I’m running a 6in AC Infinity exhaust fan set to keep the temps under 81 and the RH under 65%.

I can’t take any pics right now since they are under lights out right now but the lights come on in about 3 hrs so I’ll get some later tonight

Sorry missed that bit

Not sure what medium you are using but that amount of water seems WAY too low. My 3 gallon pots use 1.5 gallons and my 5 gallon pots use 2 gallons ( to get 20% runoff). Also about every other day.

For vegging that long they should be way bigger I would think. These girls were in veg for 30 days and are completely filling my 4x4 tent. Once they hit stretch one girl is up to my nipples and I’m 6’1 ( it just got light burn because it’s so tall). I run mine at 400-450 watts with my HLG 550V2 Rspec. ( All 4 are different strains)

The reason I asked.
I am thinking the plants are under watered. Needs more water and longer dry time when young.

What is your water source? Just a wild guess here, but a mild copper excess can cause this small harvest, with very little signs of problems. Do you have copper pipes in your house with a ph lower than 7?
BTW I was in Home Depot last week, and noticed that they offered free testing of your home’s water. Never hurts to know exactly what’s in your water.

If you’re using tap water you can get a free water report online. EWG. It will tell you what’s in your water

Im thinking next time try 5 or even 3 gallon pots. I believe in 7 gallon your plants are trying to fill the pot withroots before growing upward.

So do not use the free testing at home depot where they actually come out and do it on site.
The one you collect and send in may be useful but the one where they come is BS!

I suspect after you collect and send it off, if you own and don’t rent, they will probably hound the crap out of you to let them do an “on site test”.

I just went around and around with them over agreeing to let them do a test.

It’s a marketing tactic to get inside your house and useing fear to take advantage of unknowing home owners.

They are like the old school “vacuum sales men”
If you let them in your home, they dont give up till you buy something or curse them out…

The systems they push are over $10k also! Just Google the reviews of home depot free water testing and see what customers say…

Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea. I just saw the sign as walking through the store. I will not make that suggestion again.
A water analysis should not be very hard to find locally, and I believe that Jacks Nutrients can provide water testing also.

If you’re within city limits you can get a water analysis online for free in case you missed it earlier. Google EWG water report
