From a fellow grower: We have several pots of mixed soil set-up in our tub in our bathroom (it’s a big bathroom, so the it’s well vented and we aren’t growing more than 2-3 plants at a time typically). We keep the room at 75 degrees, it’s fairly humid, I’d say 60-80% most of the time. The lighting is the same as I used before to grow, four LED grow lights (Feit Electric GLP8FS/CLAMP32WLED/2 clamp on high output full spectrum grow light.)
They are on a timer for 18 hours on each day. I water as needed with tap water (it’s basically drinking water or straight tap). We have city water, so limited data on the water make-up or pH. The soil is a mix of potting soil (~50%), peat (30 %), and top soil mix (20%). I White Widow Feminized.
Says they are photos on 18 hours of light. They won’t bud until they start getting 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness each day.
Ditto what @Newt said
This info can be obtained by going to the counties website or by contacting your water company. You will want to gather this information. If you have chloramine or chlorine (very likely at least one of them is used) you will want to off gas chlorine before using the tap water. Its simple really you can just fill a bucket with the water and let it sit 1-5 days. You can also use a airstone and aquarium pump to get it done in 12 hrs. Chloramine on the other hand must be filtered out, look at filter specs to make sure it pulls out chloramine. As for the ph of it. You should always use a PH and TDS probe on all liquid you input as well as the PH and TDS of the resulting runoff. This will help you track your plants health and insure that the propper PH is being maintained without which your ladies cant eat.
@Newt is spot on, photos wont flower until the light is 12 hours on and 12 hours off.
Flip those babies and let em stretch their wings
As the others said lights need to be on 12/12 cycle I personally would top them before switching.
Were you satisfied with the results? How about nutrients?
Thanks, Newt! I’ll adjust it today.
I will investigate the water more. According to our city water does have Chlorines, so I’ll look to filter or off-gas the water over several days. Testing pH, I order some test strips, so I’m more knowledgeable about the tap water.
Hi Chitty, what do you mean, flip them?
They’re referring to the light cycle. Flipping from 18/6 (vegetative state, no flowering) to 12/12 (plants enter flowering stage).
Welcome to the community. The strips will do, but if Im being honest you will want to get a ph pen. Youll need a tds meter also. These are two essential pieces of equipment. While ph accuracy not as important initially come flowering time you will jeed some accuracy. 1/2 a point in one direction or another in PH can mean the difference between your plant being able to eat or not. Tds the same if its too high your plant will burn from the nutes. Recommend an apera ph20 at least. I use an apera ph60 myself. 20’s are cheaper and work just as well.
Be sure to have good ventilation and circulation, especially in a bathroom where mildew is commonplace. 80%rh is kinda high.
Im happy to answer any questions I can. Feel free to tag me. @Docnraq
@Dert2dert yes sir. Flip means to switch from an 18/6 (veg) light schedule to 12/12. (Flower) as @Docnraq mentioned, watch your humidity and watch for mold. Make sure you have constant airflow. Welcome to the community!
Those 32 watt bulbs are ok for seedlings and early veg, but you need about 32 watt of highly efficient LED lighting every square foot if you expect good dense buds. The 4 lights you have would flower just one plant.
Have you ever grown a photoperiod plant? Or only Autos? I use to grow clones in the tub, but after I told her weed gets fungus, mold, mites etc my woman did not like it at all.
I clone in the barn now.
