pH UP is great stuff. You quickly learn that you need 1 drop to raise the pH 10 points. Easy Peasy. Love the stuff.
pH DOWN… not so much love for it. You have a pH of a gallon of mixed water at 6.3 or 6.4 but you only want a pH of 6.0 or 6.1. So you put a single tiny drop in the jug and BAM! YOU PH IS 4.1! WHAT THE HECKELS ANYWAYS!!!
Is there not some way to only lower the pH in a gallon jug 20 or 30 points instead of 200 when you’re using the tiniest dropper in the world? I mean, is there some other way to lower the pH? Can I put the pH DOWN into a gallon of just water and then add the water to my pH high mix to bring down, and the EC at the same time?
Somebody has GOT to have an answer for me. Pleeeeease. I’m so tired of throwing out mix with these expensive arse nutes already in them. Sick of it and have only tossed 1 gallon so far. I tell y’all I have no patience for this kind of thing and there has to be a better way. Just has to be.
Measurte out exactly how many CCs are in a ‘drop’. Rather do ten drops to get a better reading, and then divide by ten.
That gives you an idea of how many CCs are in one drop.
Next put that exact amount of CCs of your DOWN product into a solution of distilled water, at a ratio of 1:10. One part DOWN and ten parts dizstilled water.
On ce you have this finished solution of 10% DOWN you can use it for you purposes. Keep in mind that one drop of the 10% DOWN would be equal to ten drops of DOWN.
Been there done that. When I do what I need something to drop a couple of points rather than putting in a drop what I do is I dip the dropper in the bottle of pH up or down (not squeezing anything into the dropper) I then shake it off slightly and mix the water with it goes up about 15 points. You’re basically only getting your measuring tool wet a little
Ok. I will try all that separately and see if one works. Smh, when I say drop, I mean drop. Like smaller than an infant medicine dropper. I would venture to say nowhere close to a cc. But I see the concept. I have tried dipping the empty dropper into the water and it’s still high. The vinegar sounds like it could win for me. I will have to see what it does.
OK, so what I’ve learned is you cannot take a new ph reading immediately after adding up or down. Mix well and let the water set for at least 5-10 minutes before taking a new reading
Yep. Once you get your normal water ph lined out you can just add same amount pretty much every time. As long as 6.2-7 you are actually in the window. Many nutes regulate a bit themselves. Letting sit for a bit then testing is a good practice. After ALL nutrients in. Final step is adjust ph as silica and other nutes kick ph through the roof. Just what works for me when i use it.
Ding! Ding!! Ding!!! Ding!!! We Have Ourselves A Winner!!!
Disclaimer: I did not try all suggestions, but only because the one I tried first worked and I am sure is just the type of info that GH doesn’t want its buyers to know.
@GardenDan You Sir, get the Golden Bud Award today. It may take as much pHUp that I normally have to use, but Vinegar is a whole lot cheaper than pH Down and I didn’t use too much and it was easy to get just the right amount to bring me down to my target pH. I will pass this info along to anybody and everybody that ever asks this question.
