I got a quart of PH up and PH down. It does not state the amounts to mix.
So is there like a base starting point. Like should you mix by the gallon, half gallon, guart?.
It depends on the base water you are putting it in and there are no prescribed amounts. It only takes drops, or sometimes a few ml at most. Just add drops or ml until you achieve the desired pH.
Eye dropper used in my grow.
5-gallon bucket for off-gas chlorine.
Mix 1-gal for watering plants.
Few drops, mix good (re-pour buckets 3x) and re-measure Apera 20 or 60.
good growing to you.
I use a 10ml syringe with a blunt tip needle. I think the post I’ve ever used was 6ml and that was for a heavy nitrogen feed. There have been plenty of times when I’ve only used drops.
I bought the set of 8oz bottles to dispense from and refill from gallon jugs. I keep a 3ml pipette dropper stored inside each bottle (it floats perfectly when it’s empty). I can only use a little under half the bottle before refilling, but there’s never any cross contamination or lost droppers.
Oh, and maybe it’s just me, but the pH down seems about twice as powerful as the pH up.

I guess the next question is how long does a 1 gallon bottle of perfectly PH water sit around before it changes?
I see to remember being told that nobody has bottles of pH water sitting around.
I found a place to get my plant water from that uses really good filters.
Now I don’t have to use my tap water.
Also, is there anything in rainwater.?
I was thinking about collecting rainwater. It rains a lot here. But then I was wondering how long rainwater can sit around for.
Water will absorb CO2 when it sits and that is converted to carbonic acid, causing pH to drift. It only takes a few days for this to happen.
I’m assuming it’s R/O (reverse osmosis), distilled, or some type of filtered water. In that case you would simply just buy the water mix your nutrients as directed then check the pH and adjust up or down accordingly. As far as rainwater goes, I’ve had rainwater sit for a month in 5 gallon buckets I simply mix nutrients and check the pH and adjust accordingly
One thing to always remember add all your nutrients and additives first then check your pH for adjustment. The only time you would not adjust your pH is if you’re using advanced nutrients (pH perfect) nutrient line.
What if we store it in an air tight container?
@Lostgirl
So what nutrients do I buy for water?
I bought from ILGM the 3 packages of nutrients to mix for seedling, vegetative, flowering.
Is this what you are referring to, those kind of nutrients?.
I thought water had nutrients in it when they bottled it.
Good morning godfather. Well you definitely have some nutrients. Read the packaging and see what it says for preparing. I am not familiar with ILGM nutrient line whatsoever. If you show me what you have I’ll be happy to research it for you. Or simply read the back directions.
Some not all bag nutrients would be top feed where you simply kneed it into the top of your soil and add water I’m not saying that’s what you have. Also some bag nutrients you simply use the recommended amount mixed in your water.
First read the back of your nutrient packs. If you can’t figure it out from there please take a picture of your nutrients so I can see what you purchased from them.
Yesterday you said you were looking at purchasing good filtered water from the store. To answer your question no this is not going to have nutrients.
I know you’re very new to this so I’m assuming I should throw this at you. Be very careful when mixing your nutrients as you want to make sure you’re doing it correctly. I would need to go back and read your entire post to figure out what you’re growing what’s your growing it in etc.
Also I’m assuming you have a pen that reads pH and one that reads EC/PPM
Also going back through your post you don’t supply us with any information that we would need to properly assist you. Maybe somebody could chime in @MidwestGuy that actually has a form that you can post here that gives us more information about your grow your medium your lights your nutrients etc. Then you can get into a little more of your issue so we can assist. I know you were simply asking about pH but I think it goes a little further than that. Once you get the form fill it out post it back and we’ll go from there. In the meantime I’ll try to research your nutrient line
@Lostgirl
Actually water from the gym drinking fountain that has water filter in it.
Going to grow Godfather OG in Happy Frog soill in custom built earthquake, tornado, gunfire safety shelter/ grow room with Samsung 400w grow light and Infinity 600 watt for intake pulling from outside air and Infinity 800 watt exhaust ran into fireplace chimney. Have all the gauges for measuring.
Gonna grow two plants.
@anon52654037 so you basically have not started this grow am I correct in assuming that?
I’m actually heading out the door as we speak I’ll be back in approximately an hour
That’s funny. Hey whatever it takes. Well it doesn’t sound like you’re in too serious of trouble with anything. It’s good that you have all the meters. You want to take a pH test of the water and since you’re growing in Happy Frog soil you’re not going to need to do anything but water them for the first 30 to 35 days as Happy Frog has that much nutrients already in the dirt.
Some will argue this with me but pH doesn’t stick very well when adjusting up or down to just plain water. I suggest getting a bottle of kelp/seaweed extract off of Amazon (it’s very cheap) I can post a link here shortly to a brand that I trust and use.
You’re going to add the kelp seaweed extract at 1 mil per gallon of water. Technically through your seedling stage (approximately the first 10 days) you’re going to give very little water just enough to keep the soil around the seedling nice and moist then let it dry totally before watering again.
Like a few of the members had told you earlier be very careful with ph up and down. You you want to add one drop at a time check your pH if Mores needed it’s one drop at a time until you achieve your proper pH. My Ph my water to 6.6 and didn’t have any issues when growing in Happy Frog. Below is the link to the kelp extract that I use. I think that covered most of your questions. If I missed something feel free to ask. I’m no expert but if I don’t know something I’m not going to give you bad advice I’ll tag someone else in if I don’t know the answer. We’re all here to help. Good luck my friend
Actually read the back of the bottle and it will tell you exactly how much to use in the seedling stage and veg plus flower as well
@Lostgirl
Ain’t started it yet. Been preparing for it for quite awhile.
Still won’t be ready till April. I won’t grow in fall and winter.
Just the spring an summer.
Which means only 1 crop a year. So it’s gotta be all in.
I just thought the gym water would be better than the tap water since gym water is filtered an my house isn’t.
So I use something different. Maybe put a filter on my tap water???
Water is a very important necessity to your grow it will dictate how productive your grow is. For me tap water’s out of the question unless all roads are closed and I have no alternative.
Water filters are okay but I’ve never seen one that gave me a PPM that I like.
Example: my plants eat at 850 EC per feed. My filtered refrigerator water is 375 EC so basically 1/2 of my daily allowed nutrients or taken up by 375 EC of things I don’t want in my water so she’s actually only getting 525 EC of nutrients out of my feed.(this is why I do not use filtered or tap water.
There’s a few guys on here that I know have purchased an RO system from Amazon for about 70 bucks. If you’re a handy guy in the plumbing area you might want to consider getting one of these. It’s going to give you the perfect water and if you calculate how much RO water cost per gallon times how many times you’re going to feed them it’s a hell of a lot more than 70 bucks.
Other than that, ro or distilled water would be the way to go. Just for reference any Walmart sells RO water or distilled water for about $1.25 per gallon
@Lostgirl
So now I find myself wondering how many hundreds of gallons of distilled water I’ll have to buy to grow those two plants.
So if I buy the distilled water is all that is needed to add to that water is the liquid seaweed you mentioned?. (with the exception of the nutrients for the 3 stages)
Most large grocery chains or walmarts, etc. have an RO machine in the beverage aisle (but sometimes elsewhere in the store) where you can fill your own water bottle cheap, usually either 1 gallon bottles or 5 gallon jugs. If you want water stripped of minerals and don’t have/want an RO filter at home, this is your best bet for a water source IMHO.
Good water’s not cheap. I do the research on the RO system for your home underneath your sink. Also I have excellent success with mother nature providing me tons of rain water. You just got to work it getting it. Or my house it has a front and a back drain from the roof I cut the drain pipe it now drains into a 40 gallon tank one in the front and one in the back. On a good rain I’ll get 150 gallons of water. Rainwater is just as good as distilled or RO water. Food for thought my friend
@Lostgirl
I see I’m going to have to further discuss with you your example pertaining to your plants.
I will wait till March next year to do that though.
It appears this is gonna be a little more difficult than I first thought.
But I will pull it off being as I suffer from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) especially when it comes to paperwork.
Everything I have done so far in preparation for the grow has all come from information from members here.
On a side note the pharmacist at the dispensary fielded over 100 questions from me over a few weeks period via emails as we hashed out everything from weed, to THC levels, to moisture, to weighing with or without the bag, to lab reports, to laws, head shops, to everything they sell.
She assured me her dispensary is on the up and high quality and lab tested.
I busted out laughing when I read that
Did you know that smoking marijuana is illegal in Pennsylvania?
But what is legal is vaporizing marijuana with a dry leaf vaporizer.
I almost died laughing when I heard that. I had to ask her "dry leaf vaporizer, I have never heard of such a thing, what is that"?
They take you to jail here if you have a medical marijuana card and they catch you with a pot pipe, or a joint, or a bong. It's drug pharaphanelia.
Simply astounding.
Thank you for all your thoughts.
