PH Test Kit For Homegrow

I am starting my indoor grow and I can not seem to tell which soil test method or kit is the best. I see there are many types of kits but the more expensive they go the lower the reviews. Any advice would be welcomed on here. Thanks for your time.

The best way to test soil ph is by doing a slurry test. I think @blackthumbbetty or @raustin can explain that better than me. But you use the same ph meter for water. This is the one I use. You can get cheaper ones but since ph is a major concern in growing I suggest getting a decent one.

What @DoobieNoobie said get the best you can afford @5280420

A slurry test involves taking about 2 tbsp of grow medium from as close to the root area as you can safely get. Shake that up like CRAZY with 1/4-1/3 cup distilled or ro water & let it sit for a while (some people say 12 hours, some say 30 mins). I never strain it, but you can. It’s safer for your pH probe.

I have a tester from one of those water filter pitcher things. would that be efficient?

Is it a digital meter? Do you have access to calibration/buffer solutions for it? If yes, then that’ll work for now.

Ph and ppm are 2 different things… your water pitcher thingy is more then likely only testing for ppm…
Do you have a pic of said unit…?
