Ph in substrate too high!

So I finally got a soil meter in today for my pH and it read between7-8. I’m assuming I would lower the pH in my water but I wanna be sure before doing so.
It’s not a great PH reader btw, I just needed one on the fly and plan on getting a better but this will work for now?

Folks will need to see what you bought and the process you used to measure the soil ph…slurry test?

I have buffered coco coir
3-in-1 Soil Moisture Meter Light and PH Tester brand : naiades

As for the process I just stuck it in 2-4inches like it says and waited a couple minutes to let it balance.

Unfortunately those are literally trash, even in a pinch they will have you chasing your tail. I’d rather see you judge pH by looking at the plant over that thing :green_heart::metal:t2:

Fair enough. I was hoping I could at least get a general range reading from it.

What do you think if you don’t mind giving me an opinion?

First one is my Durban poison.
Second one is Grand Daddy Purp

Yeah sorry about that, but you would literally hurt yourself chasing with that meter.
Your plants look nice :+1:t2:
Don’t over water and don’t water so close to stem :green_heart::metal:t2:
I set a cup over baby then water around the outside of the cup then lift back off, protects water damage on the plant and makes a nice water ring for the roots to search

Maybe 1st pic stem weak? Searching for light? May need a kick stand

First one is getting LST a little early, I’m guilty. I wanna get them over to the side asap so they can grow as many new branches as possible to try to maximize yield and potency.

And no you’re fine. That’s half the reason why I posted to here and included it’s just a cheapo. I need to know if I have crap equipment or not. Lol. If rather you tell me than lie and have me fking everything up ya know?
Thank you for telling me that. I would have went through a lot of pH up and down to try to correct. Lol

Definitely will make sure I water further away rather than closer.

Better look from the other side of her

Also, could you recommend a good soil pH tester that also does moisture by any chance?

Not sure about the combo of moisture and pH :person_shrugging:t2:
Your moisture meter is your arms, is the pot heavy? It’s wet…is the pot light? It’s dry :green_heart::metal:t2::rofl::joy::rofl:
I bit the bullet after chasing my tail with cheap calibration crap meters and went BlueLab. Apera is a nice choice to that a lot around here use.
Can’t think who to tag to help you more

Honestly man you’ve helped a lot.
You not just gave advice, but gave a lead to better equipment while also letting me know mine is probably reading incorrectly.

Thank you so much. I’m definitely going to be applying everything as much as possible

Nice. I use to help my dad with his business so those hours can’t be beat. Lol

I appreciate the extra lengths youre going to make sure I get the help I need. It means a lot!

I’m currently unemployed and using my unemployment(for the first time ever)to help the spouse out during our pregnancy so I’ve got all the time in the world besides running errands and appointments. Not to mention state insurance covers 100% of pregnancy so :person_tipping_hand: It’s kind of a win/win. I wouldn’t be setting this up if I was working and expecting. Wouldn’t have the time.

When I am waiting for replies I’m using jumping between/fact checking between Google, the forum, and YouTube. I’ve been doing a lot of research but I always feel more comfortable talking with someone because I can ask questions in real time and get replies fairly quick.

@StonedCold13 Hey quick question. So one of my girls that has already gone through a period of stress. It has purples leaf stems. (NYC Diesel so not genetics)I looked it up and it’s saying potassium deficiency. I was out of nutes for around 5 days but was using run off to try and get them something.

Anyways. I finally got my nutes delivered but the pot is about half heavy with water. Would you be against a light watering/misting of nutes to give it potassium but not over water her?

Just trying to make sure I don’t do something I don’t regret 12 hours later ya know?
