What should I do if I overwater my plants and some of my plants soil still wet should I flush them repot them with new soil
Let them dry out before rewatering
Like @danniep40 posted above, you can’t really water too much in a single watering. Just make sure your pots dry out some before watering again.
Over watering happens by watering too often not by watering too much at one time. Let the soil dry out before watering again. Weed likes a wet dry cycle so the roots can get some oxygen
Also the best time to add nutrients before you let it dry out ,say it was in a rain storm and the dirt is drenched ,after the rain stops and the dirt is still drenched just water it like normal with nutes ,can’t hurt as it’s already wet . As said above let the soil dry out before watering again ,what helped me the most was someone here told me to get in the habit of feeling how heavy and light your plants are ,if heavy leave ‘em be ,if light give them a drink
You will never question yourself again
Please elaborate on how this is a good thing?
Was saying if your plants were left in a rainstorm and they hadn’t been fed for a few days before rather than wait for them to dry out you can feed them nutrients while they are still wet
Was a trick taught me by someone that was respected on here so just thought I’d share
Interesting, curious to see what others think as well. My initial thought is that it would be very hard to judge exactly when they’re wet enough but not too wet…otherwise you’d be over hydrating your plants. Is the concern wasting nutes via runoff when the plants are dry? Or maybe concern about burning the plants?
I rather like the hydrate/dry cycle, regardles of whether I’m providing nutes or just plain water. An overwatered plant grows slowly and often a little wonky. When they receive h2o or nutes after a good dry back they really show vigor (by dry back i mean a healthy dryback, no major drooping/wilting)
Anyone else?
Ahh I whole heartedly agree with the flood drought method and notice the same with the vigor ,I atry to keep my outdoor plants from getting rained on with a pop up greenhouse because I would rather control as much as I can ,I was just saying if you hadn’t been able to feed the plants in a while and they got drenched in a rainstorm you could do it right when the rain stops as adding water with feed at that point can’t really hurt as the medium is already wet ,of course let it dry out from that point ,I had never thought of it but it happened to me and someone said feed it now while it’s about to start drying out ,it worked fine.
Few of my pots my soil meter reader it said the soil was wet I over fed them and the weather I live it’s been 90’s all week still wet at the bottom
Do your pots have any drain holes? How long since you watered? Did you feed with water and when?
Yes I fed them week and half ago they dried up last week and feed them again when dried up again
How are they looking now? Can you post a picture?
I personally suspect your soil pH is off and causing nutrient lockout. More experienced growers on here may have better insight. In my experience in good soil outside, if you’re providing the bare essentials (decent sun exposure, sufficient water and minimal food) and are experiencing plant issues (non pest related) it is usually a soil pH issue usually caused by either overwatering or overfeeding. In short, I’m in agreement with @StickyFrostyBuds.
I water my outdoor plants everyday right now give them 2.5 gallons a day in these 90 plus temps also once a week hit them with molasses
Great day!! They’re going to look like Rasputia from Norbit by the time their done!!
