How much direct sunlight does outdoor plants need for best production, obviously 12 hrs would be optimal, but that’s not happening where I am. My plant is in a spot that starts getting direct sunlight around 9 30 am, and is in full sun until roughly 5 pm, this should be plenty right? I ask because the spot I had them was closer to the house, and got direct sunlight starting at around 8 30 am, but by 1 30 pm was starting to get some shade, of course this has just been the last week or so, thats why I moved her. Thanks in advance.
When i did outside runs very few ever got direct sunlight. Theh would be under a heavy canopy preferably
I have seen many do thiss and others in direct sunlight, does it matter is what I’m asking? Wouldn’t more direct light make the plant perform better and grow bigger buds given it is healthy, in good soil, with good nutrients and good drainage. Wouldnt the direct light then be like high octain fuel as opposed to same conditions, but with more indirect light?
My ones that got several hours or so seemed to do the best all around. Natural sunlight penetrates through where artificial light does not. Also some plants dont like too much sunlight/heat and in some circumstances seems to retard them a bit instead. A strain or variety that likes harsh sun would be a good choice for that though, just beware of copters
Something like 9 hours of direct followed by 4 or 5 of indirect is ideal.
Well, Im right at 8 hrs of full sun.
Yeah, its really hidden good honesty, up against a bigger bush that it blends right in with and there’s a massive oak tree behind and over it, it faces the southern sky peefectly to just get hit all afternoon with sunlight.
I think you will be fine.
I have better luck in full sun , my plant’s get bigger they require more water though, toomuch shade and they don’t grow big, i never had a plant with a good root system burn up, I had some wilt so bad i thought they were dead, gave them a good watering and perked right up , some say it actually makes them more Hardy that’s my experience with growing outside in a Hot South Carolina Climate
You will be fine with that. It also depends on where you live, the reason I say that is certain parts of the world get very intense sunlight from noon to 4 and often the less intense morning and evening sun will be better because the plants tend to shut down in extreme heat.
However, in most cases direct sun is the best as cannabis likes light. Another issue many folks have is they get decent sun spring and summer but as the sun gets lower on the horizon the hours if direct sun can not only get less per day but also disappear behind trees. The further north you get the more pronounced this is. Here in Canada the sun starts getting pretty low around now and having a good location helps keep frost off the ground and burns the dew off faster in the mornings.
That was the issue I was having, was fine where it was a few weeks ago, but now around 130 or 2, the sun started being blocked out. Where I moved it wint have that problem, and it is loving being there, water uptake last 2 days with warmer temps has seriously increased. And she is fattening up now.
