I’ve been running a 150 watt ceramic reptile heat lamp in my 2x4 tent during lights out. Usually the lamp is clipped to a pole. Yesterday, I instead set the lamp face down on a ceramic tile on the floor of the tent. Very dumb. Today I find a hole burned all the way through both the tent floor and the 3/8-inch plywood platform that the tent sits on. The ceramic tile cracked. And crumbly black charcoal around the new hole. Don’t tell my wife.
Today is day 44 above ground and day 8 from the 12/12 flip. Last night with no heater, low temp was 62 degrees F. Lights on temps have been running 74.
The right hand plant got badly stressed soon after transplant into its final 5 gallon pot on day 30. Leaves taco-ed dramatically and leaf tips burned. Temperatures, light intensity, circulating fan impact, Input PH and runoff EC all seemed ok. New leaves post flip look ok.
None of the smoke alarms in my house sounded. I suspect the event made lots of smoke which was all pulled thru my carbon filter and exhausted outside. I was going to replace that carbon filter soon anyway.
With respect ‘Isleofdogs’…this nasty event shows that you need to muscle up 'Smoke Dectector wise in your grow room.
You have an Ignition Point problem in the grow room. God forbid if you have a serious fire and you have insurance, Insurance Companies will use use these ‘scenarios’ to invaladate insurance fire claims.
Tie saftey bonds around all suspended light sources as a second line of defense…Gravity is your enemy !
Holy shit bro that ceramic bulb turned into a branding iron Glad you caught it before the whole place went up.Ditch that death trap and just grab a cheap oi filled radiator heater or plug your AC Infinity heater into the controller set to 72°F night temp safe even heat no fireballs. Stay safe man
Yes, and I already own one. Here is the oil filled radiator style heater on a timer just outside the tent. And the hole in the tent floor patched. And a new carbon filter and filter sock.
I had heat lamp like that It had a clamp on it Middle of the night cats knocked it down Burned the house completely down killed all my pets Stick to those Pelonis heaters! There cheap.
Like PeeWee66,I came home the day after Christmas (went to be with family for Christmas),and while driving down the dead end road to my home I saw 6” hose coming from my neighbors pond.Upon turning into my driveway I saw red lights. My house had burned completely into the basement.Lost a woofer and a cat and everything.Only thing I owned was the clothes on my back.It was a long drawn out HORRIBLE experience.12/26/92.
You were extremely lucky, count your blessings. The angels were most definitely watching out for you and your family..
We were lucky we were not at home.My wife,my 8 month old son,and me were homeless in a matter of a few hours.Every Christmas I remember that day 33 years ago.
Threethings that come to mind.
1- made a video of all your possessions, trying to remember all of them is a task no one wants.
2- insurance companies SUCK.
3-if one is ever in this situation, hire a fire adjuster.
Thinking back I feel sad but very thankful and blessed.
