I was in my grow shop yesterday to pick up a few things and was told certain products of General Hydroponics are not available in Canada. Apparently their license to sell in Canada has expired and Health Canada is giving them a hard time renewing. Typical government BS.
Anyway think I’m going to make the switch to Advance Nutrients line. Opinions? Which line? I grow in Promix.
Unfortunately I still have a bit of GH main nutrients left. I want to gradually switch over as my GH products run out. So I was hoping the members could give me insight of what Advanced products match GH products that I use. I have figured some of it out.

There are some other very good products out there for synthetic nutes that will come in a little cheaper. But if you’re pretty set with AN I would just go grab one of their schedules and run with it.

Calmag> sensi calmag extra
Flush/ripening> flawless finish
I think for most of the other stuff they offer multiple products that offer different angles of achieving similar results
I am open to going to any nutrient @dbrn32. The guy at my grow store recommends Botanicare. I would like to get most bang for my buck. I’m 4 grows in and when I started GH was recommended to me by another grow store guy. I haven’t been unhappy with GH but I really have nothing to compare it to. Some of the stuff is so expensive but is it much better then the less expensive. Should I go Organic? Ok. I’m rambling now. lol
@Myfriendis410 has good point. I believe whether he is knowledgeable will be key. Like has years of experience growing weed with it? Then he can be your resource for any issues you have, and you can bet he has everything you need there on hand. If he’s just saying that’s what everyone else buys, that means very little.
Organic is an option, I’ve used earth juice with pretty good luck, but it’s expensive too. Canna nutrients seem to have a pretty good following, I’ve seen several growers comment on how their base nutes require very few additives. So in terms of bottles you really shouldn’t need three bottles of base nutes plus 10 additives. And they have medium specific lines.
Otherwise all of the synthetic nutes pretty much use the same stuff to generate their mixtures, as do the organic lines. The biggest difference is concentrations and npk ratios.
Thanks for clarifying my initial thoughts. You are exactly right. I don’t use my grow store for much product advice because I always get a funny vibe there. They’re nice, but act like they have a disabled little brother chained in the basement lol.
Yep, my guys are pretty cool. They’ll all insist they don’t grow weed, can’t say I blame them where we’re at. But not all of them are real good at selling it. There’s a little him hawing, as the conversation continues you’d be surprised at the knowledge they have. Personally, I like that they don’t shove a particular product at me. They’ll tell me what they have that will provide what I’m looking for, and usually mention any differences in the options. Plus, I leave there with free stuff often.

I didn’t mean it to sound that way. I just hate switching nutrients when I just got the GH schedule learning curve straitened out. Some of the nutrients have great names and art work on them. Don’t care about that I just want something that works well with my girls and I don’t have to re-mortgage the house to purchase them.

I use no nutrients in my grows, and I make my own soil. And I used those Nutrients for a long time so I can help you out there big time. Thanks @garrigan62. I’m set to watching. Might be a good idea to try just going with nutrient soil. Do you mix different soils for different stages? Like a soil for germination a soil for seedling etc. My grow store has all kinds of different soils and additives like worm castings, bat guano etc.

I just saw a shipment come into my grow store. Was going to talk about it with my grow guy but I was in a bit of a hurry. Damn kids lol. Anyway I might pick some up and try it with my next grow. Personally if I were going to start using any media I would choose Promix BX over coco. Not that I had much trouble with the medium but there are idiosyncrasies to the medium that you have to deal with.
