Nutrient switch near the end?

Hey,
I took many of your all’s advice and bought some Jack’s 3-2-1.

I have 4 auto plants currently growing and approaching harvest - 1 will be ready for harvest in a week, 2 @ about 3 weeks and the last one maybe @ 4 weeks.

I’m chomping at the bit to try the Jack’s but am wondering with it being so close to harvest is it a good idea making a change now… or should I just finish out this grow with the current Technaflora liquid nutes and start the Jack’s on the next one?

The other factor is hoping to get some experience with Jack’s before a new crop is started.

Thanks

Wait till the next grow.
You dont want to introduce a new element this near the end.
If something happens you wont know why.
But take my word for it, you will love Jacks.
My plants have much bigger stems and trunks after switching.
I have not had them thrive on any other system I tried.

I would honestly finish the grow with what you have. The plant a week out doesn’t need to be fed, and if you have two more, two weeks out, they probably only need one more feeding. If you’re in soil, then the 4 week plant only needs to bed fed like 3 more times.

That is very reassuring and I appreciate your response.

So is Jack’s like I heard, you don’t vary the proportion of A and B based on vegging vs flowering?

Agreed. Using it in coco. No deficiency or toxicity so far on 3 different strains, 6 weeks flower, all the same feed ratio. No flushing. Easy peasy

Will it also work with FFOF which is what I was planning to grow them in next round?

Yes, but in FF you won’t need to feed at all for 4-6 weeks. Monitor runoff PPM and begin feeding when PPM dips below 1,000.

Thats correct. Same formula all the way through.
I have started messing with it just for my own experiments.
I just measure by volume not weight.
In a gallon I add 1/2 tsp Part A, 1/4 tsp Epsom and mix. The add 1/2 tsp part B and mix.
In RO water it come out to 5.8 pH every time. I grow in Coco so its perfect.
What I am trying this grow is to round the Tsp of part B during Veg as they like nitrogen at this point and then during flower I plant to round the Tsp of Part A and go back to level part B.
Only a small adjustment but so far I dont see any issues. Part B has Nitrogen and Calcium.

Can do. That’s similar timing when nutes run out with what I was doing on my first FFOF grow

Thanks

I second the use of it in FFOF. I used that exact combo in my first grow with Jacks. Just have to adjust the pH to 6.5 - 6.8 and your good. I started feeding 1/2 strength around week 4 and by week 6 went to full strength. Plant was massive. Started it in a 1 gal fabric bag and then about week 2 or so set it in a 5 gal fabric bag. The roots will grow right through the fabric. Worked great. You can see the web of roots in the pic I took after removing the 5 gal bag.

Dang, you answered my follow up question there too! That’s a big @$$ root! :weight_lifting_man:

Which was % strength to target as time goes on week to week.

Thanks.

It certainly looks easier than the 7 liquids I currently syringe in from 1.2 ml/gal to 7 ml/gal current stuff. That takes time and I like the cost and simplicity of what they say about this Jack’s.

Lol…Thats what I was doing with the Nectar for the Gods line.
It was way too much work keeping track of what to mix each week. And it was always presenting different problems.

Yes, and I was swagging here and there and trying to go thru them 1234567 and then sometimes forgetting where I was.

I mean it worked and I didn’t kill the plants in the process but too many chances for an error.

Excited about trying Jack’s!! :hugs:

Sounds like you already bought your supply. If you ever need to buy again there is an Ebay seller that runs a sale once or twice a month selling the 25lb bags at about 1/2 price. The sale only lasts a day so you have to keep checking. He does run the sale routinely tho.
His name is esbenshadesgardencenter

Thanks! I bought a break down set on eBay… 3 lbs Part A, 1 lb Epson salt and 2 lbs Part B…all for $24

I only grow 4 autos or photos at a time so this 6 lbs. will probably last me 3 years. We can grow up to 4 plants at a time legally in VA…so my needs are pretty small.

4 plants with Jacks will set you up very nicely.
We can have 6 flowering here in Missouri, but I rarely grow more than 3 now.

Curious, when was it legalized in Missouri?

6 is better than 4 but we are just tickled to death it was actually legalized here for recreational use period… Plant count is not a problem.

Sort of came out of the blue 9 months ago

Thanks for this info. Will be watching

I just mixed up 1 gallon of Jack’s as a test and then just dumped it out.

I used cold water and each stage dissolved very slowly. Can I use hot water? And if so, how hot? 140F?

Mine is room temp…75 at most…dissolves in 30 seconds or so.
I usually add part A and epsom since its ok to do both at once…shake a few seconds and then start opening the tent up and checking the plants for a few minutes. Then add part B and mix for a minute.
If the solution is clear then its ok to use. If its milky or cloudy then start over. Ive never had it become milky/cloudy so its very forgiving. I always see a few floaties. Its never been a problem
