Nutrient deficiency or pests?

Hi, my leaves are starting to turn brown and curl so I was wondering what was causing this. I do have a gnat infestation that I’m trying to get rid of so I wasn’t sure if that was the cause or if it was a different problem. I would really appreciate the feedback.

What are you feeding her and your ph?

This is my first grow so I wanted to try and grow my plant without any nutrients or without checking the ph level. So far I’ve just been using tap water from my sink to water it. My plant is getting close to flipping so I’m not sure if it needs nutrients or if it’s something else.

No nutrients is okay but you gotta watch your pH. I did the same when I started and plant did fine until maturity and it looked just like yours. The good pH range is small and is a common cause of problems. Good luck get you a cheap pH meter asap and keep us updated.

Okay I will. Thank you! I really appreciate it!

Sure looks like ph. The light color on top is a hungry sign. They need food now. Calcium spots. Mag deficiency signs. Low nutrient uptake. Ph and some food should line it out.

Okay thank you as well! You both have really helped!

I would say need a ph meter at the minimum. I was going to do my first grow without nutes and just wing it. Then I realized I didn’t want to put 4 months of work in for so-so bud. Cannabis is a hungry plant. If you’re looking easy nutes I’d recommend Jacks321. Very user and budget friendly. Don’t give up on her now.

+1. I’d make an EC/PPM meter #2.

What medium are the plants growing in Growmie, most cannabis friendly amended mediums will feed the plant with PHd water for approximately 6-8 weeks after the seedling period. You’ve got a pretty advanced stage of phosphorus deficiency and often accompanied by a calcium deficiency :love_you_gesture:

I’m using the pro-mix premium moisture potting mix with some perlite as my medium.

What nutrients are you using and how much as in your PPM strength and PH. The PH is very critical to nutrient absorption and different mediums have different ranges. Tagging a very successful ProMix Grow Bro @Growdoc may have some recommendations :love_you_gesture:

@OGIncognito thanks Brother. At first glance I see phosphorus deficiency in advanced stages, magnesium and probably nitrogen and calcium as well. What I feel like is they are hungry, actually starving. I would really to know your runoff ph and ppm to be sure it’s not media related. I would jump on Amazon and find a decent ph pen that will arrive overnight, also a tds/ec pen if at all possible. If you can get those, take readings next watering and get back to me, and we will get you on track. Side note; anyone thinking of growing , especially in soilless- hydro/ coco media, a good PH and EC pen set is as valuable as the seeds you plant, because you are unlikely to finish a grow, at least not a healthy, high yield grow. Getting weed to grow flawlessly is hard enough with the right equipment, you have better odds at the Powerball without them.

Your Promix is the one sold at Lowe’s and such , I grow in Promix BX and perlite. If I’m right, yours has some soil in it as well. BX and HO are peat based with no soil, only peat, perlite, and a bit of lime for 5.8 ph out of the bag. I’m not sure if the mix you have is properly ph’d for cannabis, I’ll look it up, that could have your ph out of range. I’ll touch base when I find it.

OK, I looked your media up and it’s also peat based, but with coco, perlite and some dolomite lime. I didn’t find a ph listing, but it should be at 5.8 or so being peat and coco. 5.9-6.1 is your target ph in that, the ph and ec pens will tell us where you are and how to get to where you need to be.

@LaMinion looking back, I see you have a knat problem also. You can dissolve some mosquito bits or cubes in water and use that to water them, it will kill knats and their larva, breaking their cycle. Now my point, knats are usually a sign of the media staying too wet, you may want to make sure they are drying out good between watering. Improper watering will cause problems too. Overwatering can cause ph to go haywire as well as rot your roots. Coco and peat usually don’t have knat issues, I’ve had them in soil, but not since I switched to Promix.
